Music: Bob Kauflin is looking to give away 50 copies of the “Worship God Live” CD, but only to people who meet the following criteria: “You are a pastor or a music minister/worship leader in your local church or ministry; You regularly write a blog (that people other than your family read); You will post a review of the CD on your blog by June 15.”
Blogspotting: Paul, with whom I travelled to the Together for the Gospel Conference, has posted a photo essay (if three photos can be considered an essay) of yours truly, including a rare look at me riding a moving sidewalk. I hope they were all taken on the same day, since otherwise it means that I forgot to change the whole time I was in Louisville.
Interview: “Sojourners” has an interview with McLaren that discusses “Da Vinci Code.” McLaren says “We need to ask ourselves why the vision of Jesus hinted at in Dan Brown’s book is more interesting, attractive, and intriguing to these people than the standard vision of Jesus they hear about in church.” That’s because they hate the Jesus of the Bible, Brian!
Theology: The most recent issue of “Critical Issues Commentary” is now available. The topic this time around is “Recovering Reformation Theology.”

I am a follower of Jesus Christ, a husband to Aileen and a father to three young children. I worship and serve as a pastor at

Not really sure what’s going on with all the other comments here. Anyway, let me say thanks for all you did there at the T4G conference. You did a great job on the BofB panel.
In regard to McLaren, you hit it right on the head. But in McLaren’s picking and choosing of what he’ll believe and commit himself to, it seems that the depravity of man did not make the cut. His writings are rife with this idea of molding Jesus according to what others will like.
Then again, that’s only one of his problems.
I certainly don’t agree with everything Mclaren writes, but to say “That’s because they hate the Jesus of the Bible, Brian!” is to minimize the way the church - let’s be real - christians have lived, or should i say, not lived, the life of Jesus before the world. Too often, the church has nit picked and made pronouncements, but not been the body of Christ to a needy world. Sure that’s a generalization (an over generalization) but one of the things the :emerging/emergent conservation is doing, is helping people rethink: how do we reach / evangelize / minister to / disciple a world that is broken. I am not convinced that the Jesus of the Bible is really being taught and demonstrated to a world that really does need to see Jesus. And to some that will be very attractive, to others it will be the worst thing going.
