Blogging: An article published by the Restored Church of God says that blogging is sinful. "Let me emphasize that NO ONE--including adults--should have a blog or personal website (unless it is for legitimate business purposes)."
Politics: This is an interesting article, getting quite candid with Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Interview: Here is another interview with yours truly. I was also the guest on a radio show a few days ago and will post the audio when and if it is made available.
Men: Now this is important. FoxNews has an article about manly footwear and, in particular, flip flops. Are they appropriate footwear for men? "I'm always baffled at what makes men think women will be attracted to them in a two-for-$10 pair of Wal-Mart flip-flops," he said. "No one wants to look at a man's dirty, hairy, nasty toes."

I finally was able to read the whole article, and it was really fantastic. The only problem was that it seemed that this writer was not exposed to teen blogs like these or the "christian blogosphere" per se. The conclusion they came to was correct in the context of social networking blogs -- I do not believe that anyone should be using them unless it is for legitimate business purposes.
The Restored Church of God is the Armstrong cult with a facelift. I'm betting their real motivation is to eliminate outside influences.
That article against blogging seems to do a good job of pointing to all the bad things that happen out there in bloggerdom, but neglects to look at any of the good things. Frankly, the same conclusion could be stated about meeting other people who are not believers. Some of them swear, some of them talk publically about things that they shouldn't, some of them are nasty preditors who want to do bad things to you, so you better not go out among anyone except church people. Wasn't Jesus charged with being a drunkard and a glutton because he hung out with the sinners around him. Basically, without examining the good things about blogging, the argument falls flat and becomes a straw man. If all that was out there in the blogs was what was outlined in the article, then I would agree, but I have found more blogs that challenge me in my walk of faith, recommend books that are helpful, and make aware and warn me of things I should know as a follower of Jesus, that I cannot say blogging in and of itself is wrong.
Fantastic point, Jim, fantastic point. The conclusion is all wrong, and although they acknowledge that there is a difference in "social-networking" sites and "blogs," the quickly decide to lump them together, which is never a good idea. There are huge differences -- the climate is certainly a factor in MySpace versus a blog on a dot com.
Lastly, I don't know about any of you, but a lot of what was said was convicting to bloggers -- and some of the response is proving that a lot of bloggers do in fact have a good bit of pride. I think it's something we all need to work on.
Wearing flip-flops is not about attracting the ladies... it's about comfort!
Besides, flip-flops are probably as close to the shoes that Jesus wore. Thus, they are fully biblical for men to wear. Who can possibly defeat that logic?
What is the Restored Church of God's stance on flip-flops? Does anyone care what they say?
