A Saturday in Paradise - My sister visited a bizarre little place in Somerville, Georgia and took some amusing photos. “This weekend my ideal paradise and paradise in Summerville, Georgia turned out to be a little different... You heard me right! We spent Saturday (After purchasing new tires at the most "interesting" establishment) walking Paradise Gardens.”
More Single Adults - “Marriage rates among young adults have been dropping for decades. But data released Tuesday by the Census Bureau show that for the first time the proportion of people between the ages of 25 and 34 who have never been married exceeded those who were married in 2009--46.3% versus 44.9%, according to an analysis by Mark Mather, a demographer at the Population Reference Bureau, a non-profit research organization in Washington.”

However… I’m sure you weren’t trying to suggest that marriage makes you an adult… but that’s how I first read it… and I’m still kind of snickering about it….
I spent 10 years on an SGM church plant that did not go so well. I hope they are having a session or breakout session on “How NOT To Do A Church Plant.” I know 2 pastors and about 10 families that could all take turns teaching that one.

But also I agree with Matt. The title of the Boundless article is:”More Emerging Adults Single Than Married,” not “More Singles than Adults.” There is probably a maturity correlation in terms of the rise in numbers, but to categorically make Singles and Adults mutually exclusive seems a tad unfair.
RE: More Singles than Adults…. and yet many churches still laugh in the face (or worse) when member suggest a Singles Ministry.

I don’t understand your title “More Singles than Adults.” I am 36, never married, have owned a house, strive to be financially responsible, seek to honor my parents, serve my brother’s family, and serve as a missionary in South Asia. Will I only count as an adult if I marry?
@BEJ: Sadly, there seems to be an attitude among many in today’s family-focused Evangelicalism that really don’t think you’ve grown up until you’re married. For example, I was listening to the nationally syndicated Christian radio show “Family Life Today” with Dennis Rainey and Bob Lepine. One of them was describing how his son announced his engagement, and father (either Dennis or Bob, I can’t remember which) said, “And that’s when I knew life would really begin.” Other “family-oriented” ministries spout off with similar intimations. No marriage = no life = no adulthood = you-get-the-idea. In singles ministry we even have a term for this: “smug marrieds”, and it’s super common, if often unspoken. Even if you’re married, that still doesn’t put you in the big leagues, since you have to have kids for that — but that prejudice is another topic all together.
