Back when I began writing my book my youngest daughter (who is 4) was simply not sleeping well. She would wake us up almost every night, crying that she was scared. Aileen and I were constantly braindead through this time, half-comatose from lack of sleep. And then one day she said, “Daddy, I’m going to start sleeping now so you’re not too tired to work on your book.” And just like that she got over it. It was pretty amazing.
China’s 80 Millionth Bible – From the Christian Post: “Amity Printing Co., located in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing, says it now prints 1 million copies of the Scripture a month. Since its founding in 1988, the printing company has grown to be one of the largest Bible publishers in the world.”
Guys & Pornography – True Woman recently conducted an interview with Aileen and me, asking us questions such as: What should a woman do if her husband’s asking her to do things in the bedroom that violate her conscience? If a man isn’t interested in having sex with his wife, is that an automatic indication that he’s addicted to pornography? If a single woman is dating, should she try to figure out whether her boyfriend’s addicted to pornography? Do single women have any hope of getting pure men? How can we as women help men with this struggle?
Social Media & Discernment – John MacArthur (of all people) has a good article about being wise and discerning in the world of social media.
Faithful Presence – On a similar theme, the Desiring God blog has a good, quick look at being fully present in a world of continuous partial attention (something I cover in my book, as it happens).
Balance in Conflict – In this article Jim Elliff offers “15 Resolves for Maintaining Spiritual Balance in Severe Interpersonal Conflicts.”
Animals in War – This is quite an interesting photo essay.
Abandoned Six Flags – This is a strangely fascinating (and creepy) video that takes a look at the abandoned Six Flags New Orleans.
