Good Bye. Mr. President
“Whether you voted for him & love him, or you’ve disagreed with all his policies and dislike him… Could we all agree on this? We owe President Bush a sincere thank you. As the historic Inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama approaches, StevenCurtisChapman.com pauses to thank our outgoing President for his service to our great country. This Thanksgiving weekend, we hope you’ll enjoy a new song by Steven written in President Bush’s honor.”
How We’re Doing
CBC has an interview with Pastor Terry Stauffer and his wife Juanita (and a story on them as well) in which they talk about life after the death of their daughter Emily. Emily was killed on September 27 while on a walking path in their small town.
Three Types of Bloggers
There is a lot more that could be done with this, but I appreciated Jonathan’s breakdown of three types of blogger.
How Michael Vick Went Broke
Though this article has a snide attitude behind it, I still found it interesting. It’s always amazing to me how these young sports stars can get handed millions upon millions of dollars and find new and creative ways to blow it all. And it’s amazing how many hands are outstretched to them to take advantage of all this wealth.
Deal of the Day
I’m finding the online Black Friday deals somewhat disappointing. Amazon is as good a place to look as any as they have a wide variety of deals today. Their big-ticket item is an iPod Touch that is nicely discounted.

Wife was up and out at 7:30 for needed seasonal clothing for the children. I was up and out at 8:30 for needed groceries that were on sale at BJ’s. Only item we bought that required being “plugged in” was an 8gb flash drive.
I concur, nothing in the paper ads screamed “get up at 4am and buy me!”
I especially enjoy your A La Carte items as I sometimes learn about things I wouldn’t have otherwise heard about.
“We owe President Bush a sincere thank you.”
Do we now?
Really.
Well, that’s quite an interesting opinion. Not one that will be challenged much in the very conservative Christian circles, but one that would be laughed out of the room in most of the rest of the planet.
I’m not trying to get into a “bush suxxored LOL” thing, really. Don’t go there. I’m just saying that this statement is making some pretty huge assumptions of its readers.
The President has had one of the most difficult jobs for the past 8 years and has faced a lot of challenges. He should be thanked for serving in that office, as should every other individual who has done the same, regardless of how we view their effectiveness or policies.
Certainly, Angie, he should be thanked.
But Are all of the people who are saying “oh, he needs to be thanked no matter what you thought of him” going to be lining up to thank Obama when he’s done? The same people who are accusing him of murder for supporting abortion, accusing him of being a closet Muslim, and all that other trash?
Do you think those people will suddenly turn gracious?
The polarization of American politics has gone too far for graciousness anymore. It’d be nice, but it just ain’t gonna happen.
Tim here is a relevant soundbite that titled the Burning Bush: http://togetheroneservant.blogspot.com/2008/11/soundbite-burning-bush.html
Cyber-Monday should be much better for online deals.
Thank you for the link to the Chapman song—I spent some time there looking around and listened about 4 times.
Also, thank you for the blogger piece—comments mean a lot of bloggers, and they actually encourage others to comment. I have 11 blogs. No ads, though.
Wow. SCC just went down a few notches in my estimation. And the song was pretty lame, too.
What a terrible, terrible song. Awkward, bumbling, cringe-worthy lyrics……Honestly, is this for real?
And what, exactly, is it that Steven Curtis Chapman thinks we should be thanking George Bush for? A terrible economy, rising unemployment, the squandering of the entire budget surplus that Clinton left us, the trashing of America’s reputation around the world, the loss of civil liberties, a disaster of a war, a deregulation-fueled financial crisis, the lowest dollar value against global currencies in recent memory, a floundering stock market, a politicized and demoralized Justice department, shall I go on? There’s a very good reason — actually, about two dozen very solid reasons — why Bush has the lowest approval ratings of any president in history. Has Chapman been AWOL for the past 8 years?
