Volition
I’m a big fan of short films when they are well made. This one, Volition fits the criteria.
What Data Miners Know About You
This article is just a little unnerving. “They know how much we paid for our house, what magazines we subscribe to, which books we buy and what vacations we take. The company purchases just about every bit of data about us that can be bought, and then sells selections of it to anyone out to target us in, say, political campaigns.”
Never Been Kissed
I find it funny that this story made international headlines—I heard about it on the radio up here. It’s the story of a man and woman who decided not to kiss on the lips or sleep together until marriage. Maybe that is noteworthy…
The Obama Gold Plate
Now you can order a piece of history. A very ugly and tacky piece of history…
Requiem for My Father
Ben Witherington says goodbye to his father who went to be with the Lord on November 29.
Sacrificing for the Environment
“There is both growing public reluctance to make personal sacrifices and a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the major international efforts now underway to battle climate change, according to findings of a poll of 12,000 citizens in 11 countries.”
Deal of the Day: The Doctrines of Grace
Monergism Books is giving away an 8-part sermon series on the Doctrines of Grace. Also, by using monergism08 as your coupon code, you will get free shipping on all orders over $50 (shipping to US addresses).

Funny thing, I was just speculating yesterday about how much information “they” have about our lives. I said, also, in response to scoffing at my alarm, that I hold no stock anymore in the “inherent decency of man,” if I ever did. This IS alarming…no doubt about it.
How long (I am sincerely asking) until this turns against us? with humanity’s drive to compete and technologically advance, how long before we are completely wired as individuals? I cannot believe I am seeing these times. I hate it and, yet, am compelled to use it.
What do you think we need to be doing, as believers, to be part of this technology but also protect our churches and family from steady encroachment by the state? I have visions of horrid endtimes scenarios. What can we possibly do?
Volition was powerful….
Tim,
As a Christian, I fully subscribe to the biblical charge we are given to be “good stewards” of our planet.
As an avid skeptic of “man-made” climate change I would also point out that some of the lost interest (or increased reluctance) might be attributable to a growing awareness (largely thanks to the internet) that the chief purveyors of man-made climate change are appearing more and more like hucksters with an alternative agenda. The foundation of this agenda being greed and forced socialism.
Having said that, what disturbs me the most is the strong undercurrent of earth-worship that is conducted by some at the complete and utter expense of the Creator and His creatures (us). There are extreme environmentalists (anti-pesticide spokespeople) on record saying that they would rather see millions starve in Africa, than loose a single species of insect. Words fail me that any person could say such a thing, let alone believe something so obscene.
The last thing I’ll say about the linked article: May I bring to the attention of the reader the side-bar picture and accompanying text that talks about the lack of snow at the Austrian/Alpine ski resorts. If high temperatures were the primary issue; then the making of snow would not be practical or even possible. However, we all know that precipitation patterns vary from year to year, and decade to decade. yet a seasonal lack of snow fall automatically means global “man-made” climate change!?
May God forgive those who think that His creation would be so fragile…!
