A La Carte (12/26)

Tuesday December 26, 2006

Entertainment: This is just terrible news. The comic strip Foxtrot is switching to a Sunday-only format. I’ve been reading it daily for years and years now. The days just won’t be the same…

Books: It’s too late for Christmas, but maybe someone in your life would still appreciate this, a Bruce Wilkinson surprise pack. Or not.

Shopping: Last week Amazon was offering this million dollar bracelet at 50% off. You do the math. The customer reviews are hilarious and well worth reading.

Weird: Too lazy to bend over to make snowballs? Why not try this little gadget.

Weird: This is a strange one. A British woman with two wombs gave birth to triplets, two from one womb and one from the other.

Blogs: Clearly burdened by guilt at having one of the least updated blogs in the blogosphere, the men of Together for the Gospel promise great things in ‘07. Sounds good to me!

Funny. Just below the ‘surprise pack’ is a list of what’s in it. Not a real surprise. Of course anyone could have guessed what was inside. I suppose this is what happens when faddish products run their course. They are relegated either to the $2.99 shelf or ‘surprise pack’ that is discounted $169 or 92% off the retail price.

I hope your book comes in one version and you nix any plans on multiple versions or devotionals for children, teens, women and men. Of course a graduation edition might be nice. It should come with the audio CD inside the back cover for those who graduate but still can’t read. That way they can keep their little secret and still tell you they enjoyed the book.

I’m with you on Foxtrot, Tim. That’s one of the top 3 strips in my household, along with Zits (you’ll appreciate it more when your kids get older!) and Pearls Before Swine. But hey, I’m still in mourning over losing Bloom County and Calvin & Hobbes….
