Some Things Are Hard to Deny
Phil Johnson points to an interesting article in the Times. "Now a confirmed atheist, I've become convinced of the enormous contribution that Christian evangelism makes in Africa: sharply distinct from the work of secular NGOs, government projects and international aid efforts. These alone will not do. Education and training alone will not do. In Africa Christianity changes people's hearts. It brings a spiritual transformation. The rebirth is real. The change is good."
Her Sexual Experiences
Boundless gives a useful and biblical answer to a reader's question. As he looks toward marrying his girlfriend, he asks how he can approach and deal with her past sexual experiences.
Obama Bristles as the Bubble Closes
Here's another good reason to never be President. "The media glare, the constant security appendage and the sheer production that has become a morning jog or a hankering for an ice cream cone - it's been closing in on Barack Obama for some time."
What George W. Bush Reads
You have probably already seen this. I enjoyed looking through the lists of books that President Bush has read over the past few years. Would you want a President who never picks up a book?
Growing Up Female
Carolyn McCulley writes about some of the challenges of growing up female, whether in North America's highly-sexualized culture or in Iraq where a girl may well face sexual mutilation in her childhood.
Kurt Warner
After leading his team to the playoffs, Kurt Warner is back in the news. It has been a long time since he was anything more than a footnote in the NFL. This is an interesting article about him. Here's a quote that jumped out. "During a visit to the "Oprah Winfrey Show" to honor Masters champion and fellow Iowan Zach Johnson a couple of years ago, Warner purposely mentioned Johnson's faith in the second of three sentences, believing the show's editors wouldn't be able to cut the sentence and eliminate the religious reference. But when the show ran, the second sentence was gone. "

I hadn't seen the list of books that G. W. Bush had read. That was fascinating. Thanks for the link!
great article about Kurt Warner -
and it just struck me that, sooner or later, Hollywood will probably want to make a movie about the "fairy-tale story of grocery boy to Arena League quarterback to NFL star", and I bet they'll try to leave his faith out of the movie completely
But of course, Warner would probably have something to say about that.
Re: Kurt Warner's article. I was struck by McCowan's quote - "On the other side, when you hear the stories about Kurt, here is someone squeezing the most they can out of their life. And at the end of the day, that causes all of us to look in the mirror. And I think sometimes we don't like what that mirror looks like. So it's easier to rip on the things Kurt does than change yourself."
That's a great link to Pyromaniacs.
Take that, Christopher Hitchens!
I read so much from secularist and Christian alike that just bottom-line beat up on the church. Even though we the Church have as legion of sins to repent of, methinks they protesteth too much. I was glad to see someone acknowledge real transformation.
