Kirk Wellum, a professor at Toronto Baptist Seminary, has some good things to say about the Calvinist resurgence. “Personally, I am thrilled that today so many are “young, restless and reformed.” But at the same time, I have lived long enough to know that unless we are careful all of the buzz will be disappointing in the end.” Hey lays out five things that need to be said.

You knew this was going to happen. Al Gore has blamed the cyclone on global warming: “we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

The article on the weakening dollar hit the nail on the head. Here in Brazil we have the added complication of rising prices. For example, the price of gas jumped eight percent from last month to this month.

As the author of the article concludes, however, God is sovereign. One positive effect of all this here in Brazil has been the increasing financial involvement of nationals in the ministry.

Thanks for the reminder on the missionary funding issue.

I made a few mission trips to Germany and noticed the difference in exchange rates between the trips and wondered what that impact would be for missionaries.
