A La Carte (7/4)

Wednesday July 4, 2007

Music: Fans of Caedmon’s Call, The Normals or Andrew Osenga will want to download this free EP that was released a few days ago.

Books: An interesting little article at Publishers Weekly says that female pastors are becoming fashionable in Christian fiction.

Theology: Charles Schultz (creator of Peanuts) comments on the gift of prophecy.

Politics: I’m not entirely sure about the credibility of this article but it sure was interesting. “That’s Africa, and it’s in desperate need of our help. Luckily, a few enlightened megastars from America and Europe have come to save it. Curiously, not all the natives are grateful.”

Did you click the link for “William Kamkwamba”? The kid, out of scraps, made a windmill to generate power for his family. Crazy!

Thanks for sharing the Africa article. More people need to understand what the situation really is in Africa.

No top down approach will fix the problems. For a great Christian perspective I recommend “Freedom, Justice and Hope: Toward a Strategy for the Poor and the Oppressed”http://www.amazon.com/Freedom-Justice-Hope-Oppressed-Christian/dp/0891074783/ref=sr_1_2/002-6547989-7410451?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1183780059&sr=8-2
