Jennifer Knapp To Make a Comeback?
Well isn’t this a good bit of news. Several years after falling off the face of the earth (having released a collection of very good albums) Jennifer Knapp appears ready to try again.
Unpacking Forgiveness
Chris Brauns: “I’ve been thinking recently about something television star Kelsey Grammer said. It’s not because I saw a rerun of Cheers. Unfortunately, the context is tragic. Grammer has me thinking about well intentioned people who end up “packing unforgiveness.” Where deep wounds are concerned, there are those who try and do what they believe faith requires. Yet, they end up hurting all the more.”
Questions To Ask a Potential Church
Colin shares a list of questions that may be useful for a prospective pastor to ask a church that is interested in having him minister there.

My copy of Snow Leopard arrives today, and I’m probably more excited about that than I should be.
Thrilled to hear about a possible Jennifer Knapp comeback…thanks for sharing this
Forgiveness and reconciliation have been the themes in my life over the last 2 years . Both sought and given. Forgiveness boils down to one party repenting and wanting reconciliation and the second party willing to forgive and seek to build a new foundation. If one seeks forgiveness and desires to repent ,reconcile then I believe the offended party needs to forgive and work through issues to build trust and full reconciliation. For its just as much a sin to withhold forgiveness if one will not except the others heart to repent and at the very least , treat the other with civility. In Kelsey’s case , the offender seems to have shown no remorse or repentance . I don’t think he has really worked it out as the article pionts out . The answer is the gospel in the murderers life . He then would be compelled to ask for forgiveness from Grammer . Wouldn’t mean they would be drinking buddies but it would allow true haling to take place in Grammer’s life.
[Re: Questions to Ask A Potential Church]
This is so amazing. What an answer to prayer! I was contacted a few days ago by a church’s pulpit committee and ever since I’ve been looking for this very thing with no success. All day yesterday I looked and only found garbage questions for weak and shallow pastors looking for weak and shallow churches. This morning I hop online and this is the first thing in my Google Reader! Wow. Thanks Tim. You’ve been a blessing.
Hmm…can’t say that I agree with Dr. Braun’s unpacking of forgiveness. Seems from what I’ve read in scriptures, that I’m to forgive whether someone shows remorse or not. If Luke 6:29 is not an example of unconditional forgiveness, I’m not sure what is.
“Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.
There’s something that sounds right about Dr. Brauns’ thesis, but something that doesn’t ring true at the same time.
Luke 6:35-37”love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
Matthew 6:14-15”if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
I think it’s possible (and indeed even commanded) to forgive others. It’s up them whether or not they seek forgiveness and reconciliation.
Perhaps Dr. Braun is drawing an incorrect analogy between our forgiveness and God’s? We forgive when we surrender the right to judge and condemn. We release our “right” to get even because we are releasing that person to God’s judgment. God does not do those things, because He is God. There is no one higher, no one more sinless, holy, just or perfectly qualified to judge.
I’m going to have to get Dr. Brauns’ book to see his treatment of the topic and his handling of these and other verses.
Good to hear about Jennifer Knapp. What I find a little “interesting” is that her MySpace mini-bio is lacking some noteworthy words…God, Christ, Christian. Even “spiritual.” One wonders what kind of music she will be offering, and where she’s at with her faith. No judgment…just find it odd without assuming anything, yet perhaps carefully calculated to have no representation of her faith in evidence. Dare I say, it’s suspicious in its absence. Guess we’ll see. I look forward to hearing her new music.
I have to agree somewhat with Jeff Schultz about this unforgiveness article. It feels off for some reason. Is this a reformed way of thinking? I also felt like it was quite a stretch to judge what Kelsey Grammer might have been thinking. I agree more with Kelsey Grammer than with Dr. Braun!
the 41 questions is so good! I am looking at grad schools right now, which may mean a move for me and my family. This list will prove hlepful if that move does come. thanks.
