A La Carte (8/9)

Allyson Felix - Nathan Busenitz writes about Allyson Felix who won gold last night in the women’s 200 meter race. “Our entire seminary family has been cheering her on during these Olympic games. We are blessed to have her dad on our faculty, and encouraged to see his godly legacy represented in her life.”

That Is Sin - Julian has a helpful reflection on sin. “Several years ago, someone challenged me to try to keep my conversations about sin tied to biblical words. That way we can speak of sin as sin… and if something is not sin, then we must deal with it in the realm of preference or simply freedom.”

Myth of Religious Violence - Here’s an interesting and unique take on a book review. Peter Leithart pens a review of William T. Cavanaugh’s, The Myth of Religious Violence: Secular Ideology and the Roots of Modern Conflict.

Letter To a Son - David Murray came across a letter a father had written to his gay son. In that letter the father completely disowned his son. David takes a shot at a better letter.

Alteration is not always improvement, as the pigeon said when she got out of the net and into the pie. —C.H. Spurgeon
