"The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment is a truly important work-one that should be required reading not only for church leaders, but for all sober-minded laypeople as well."

John MacArthur (From the Foreword)

"If you were more discerning you’d probably buy this book. If you do read this book, you will be! This book on discernment is simple, clear, well-written and well-illustrated...

A Southern Christmas

I’m going to be in the Atlanta and Chattanooga areas over the holidays this year, hanging out with my family and then attending the Reality Check Conference (where I’ll be blogging, book signing, and having fun). So that means a couple of days in Adairsville, GA, a couple of days in Woodstock, GA (which, I hear, is a ‘burb of Atlanta) and a few days in Chattanooga, TN. Looks like it’s going to be a busy week or ten days!

While down south I have been asked to speak at a couple of churches and thought I’d let you know in case anyone out there in cyberspace is interested in attending. On December 23rd I’ll be speaking at Grace Community Church which meets in Dawsonville, Georgia. I believe the worship service begins at 6 PM and will be followed by a Christmas candle-light service. Then, the next Sunday, December 30th, I’ll be speaking at Lyndon Avenue Baptist Church in Chattanooga. The service begins at 6 PM.

At both services I’ll be speaking on Hebrews 5 and teaching on the Bible’s call for us to be men and women of discernment. On the 30th I believe I’ll also speak a little bit on my experiences working in the blogosphere and in new media.

So if you live in the area and if you’re itching for something to do on a Sunday evening over the holidays, feel free to visit either of those churches.

A Southern Christmas

It will be a pleasure to hear you speak but too far for me it seems that all the Bible teachers and speakers that I would like to hear don’t like to speak in Connecticut. Hope one day that would change.

I happen to live 5 minutes from Woodstock, GA. Please don’t hesitate to email if need any assistance with anything. Are you by chance attending an event in Woodstock also?

Blessings,

It’s a small world. I used to live about a block away from the Lyndon Avenue Baptist Church about 30 years ago, but the church had a different name back then, unless my memory fails me. My wife and I visited there once since the pastor at the time was a teacher of mine. He was, like you, a Canadian, Dr. Gerald Benn. He eventually went to London, Ontario, to start London Baptist Bible College, which is now Heritage College, I believe.

Our family will be at the Reality Check conference. We’ll stop by and say hello! We signed up late so we’re in the overflow theatre and hotel. Sounds like a great turn out!

You can’t go to the south without going to Texas. Stop by Houston for a while. My office has a twin bed! :)

Depending on how cocky an Atlantan one is, one might consider Chattanooga to be a suburb of Atlanta. ;-)

I hope you have safe travels. Maybe my husband and I could drive down on the 30th. He loves Chatt!

Enjoy your day!

Bro. Tim, I look forward to meeting you in Chatanooga. I’ll be leading the singing there. Be sure and let Lisa know if you have any questions!

Hey Tim, I had wanted to go to this confrence with my pastor who will be speaking ( you can watch him here http://bororean.blogspot.com/2007/09/john-316.html ) but Christmas plans are taking us to visit family in mid Missouri instead, maybe I’ll meet you there next year? Hope you enjoy the confrence.

Not sure if I’ll be able to make it, but it’s really neat that you’ll be here in Chattanooga. I haven’t checked in on your blog lately, only to stop by one day late for the book pre-order. As a follow-up to a previous post, was your brother Andrew able to locate employment?

Brother-in-Christ, Paul
