"The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment is a truly important work-one that should be required reading not only for church leaders, but for all sober-minded laypeople as well."

John MacArthur (From the Foreword)

"If you were more discerning you’d probably buy this book. If you do read this book, you will be! This book on discernment is simple, clear, well-written and well-illustrated...

Teach Me To Live What You Say

Some time ago, my pastor posted on his blog asking if anyone could identify the author of a song called “Teach Me To Love What You Say.” We sang the song in church this morning and I noted that it is still marked with “Author and copyright information unknown.” So I guess he never tracked it down. It is a sweet song and one the children seem to enjoy singing a great deal. Do you happen to know who wrote it?

Teach Me to Live What You Say
Teach me to live what You say,
Make me a child who’ll obey;
Holy in all that I do,
May I bring glory to You.

My life is all Yours to shape as You will
I’ll be the glove for Your hand to fill;
I want to be pleasing, to You may it be,
That You might be glorified somehow in me.

To be more like Jesus with each passing day;
More like the Master in every way,
A servant who’s yielded his heart to the One,
Who gives life and says to His servant, “Well done!”

Wow - that one brings back memories. We used to sing it back in the day at The Master’s College. I wonder if the folks who run chapel there might know …

Looks a good song for children. Does anyone know the tune?

The song was written by Don Kistler while he was a member of Grace Community Church. You could probably get a copy of the sheet music by writing to Clayton Erb, the music pastor there.

And the title of the song is actually “Glory to You.”

I sang that in chapel at TMC in the late 80’s as well. It kind of has a waltz feel to it. That and the “Come and See”, “Oh, How Lovely is the Morning”, and a whole slew of Twyla Paris songs where some of my faves.
