The Winds of Change Redux
A while back I put together a new site design but elected not to change to the new design. I just couldn’t get it quite right, especially in regards to the colors. I spent a couple of hours tinkering today and came up with another design that I am quite pleased with. But, as usual, I figured that since you are the ones that stare at the site every now and then I would ask for your input. So go ahead and take a look and let me know what you think. Remember, of course, that it is a work in progress so don’t be too brutally harsh!

Looks GREAT Tim! One thing - I’m using Firebird and noticed the Permalink/Comment box cuts off and spills over into the right side margin… other than that it looks super.

Much better than the previous redesign! I hate to throw out any “negativism” so we’ll call this a suggestion. I’d replace the overall background with one that matches better. I have been happy with my background that is set to disallow scrolling. Just a thought…

Call me old fashioned but I think your current site is better. It is easier to find your way around (cleaner & more defined sections). I also personally think the ‘trendier’ style does not actually do the content of your writings any justice- perhaps it’s just the font for the web title?? having said that I do like the microphone header bit. Maybe I’m just one of those people who don’t like change. Familiarity is a nice thing but change is good too. I hope that wasn’t too ‘brutally harsh’.

I really like the new version; it’s very good looking and functional. The only thing I might change is making “The Buzz” an HTML section, simply for search engine purposes.

Very nice Tim, I like the ‘recent comments’ addition. I agree with doug about the background. The winds of change blow, as consciousness grows, and we are very conscious of the BROWN background.

I’m partial to the shadow boxes that you have now. I also REALLY like the cream background. It makes the shadow boxes stand out. I do like the font for the “Recent Topics”, et.al. on the new design and I like the bullets. With your present design my eye immediately goes to your most recent post. I think that’s the point. On the new design my eye goes immediately to the microphone.

Just wanted to add my compliments to your redux of the web page design. I love blue, so that was a real delight for me. The first impression I got when I saw the page was, “We are going to communicate”. So, if that is what you were going for - you have a WINNER! ;-)

I like both looks. The new one puzzled me a little with the giant microphone looking as if it was radiating sound waves like a speaker. I think that top blue border takes too much screen real estate even though I have a 1280 x 1024 display. In any case, both looks are better than I could design.

I like the present design, but I think the addition of a ‘recent comments’ feature would be helpful for finding out where the action is ;)
