King for a Week - Dr. Mohler’s Blog

King for a Week is an honor I bestow on blogs that I feel are making a valuable contribution to my faith and the faith of other believers. Every week (or so) I select a blog, link to it from my site, and add that site’s most recent headlines to my left sidebar. While this is really not much, I do feel that it allows me to encourage and support other bloggers while making my readers aware of other good sites.

This week’s King for a Week is the blog of Dr. Albert Mohler. While there is a good chance that you already read this site, that does not preclude me from presenting it with this award. Dr. Mohler, as you may know, wears many hats. He is president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a columnist and commentator, an author, the host of a radio program, and a husband and father. And I’m sure this is not all! Dr. Mohler is one of the four men that have organized the Together for the Gospel conference which will be held later this month. Seperate from his blog, Dr. Mohler posts daily commentaries which I highly recommend as they are always worth the read.

For the next few days you will be able to see the most recent headlines from Dr. Mohler’s Blog in the sidebar of my site. I hope you will make your way over to the site and look around.

I continue to accept nominations for King of the Week. If you have a site you would like to nominate, feel free to do so by clicking on the “suggest” button below the King of the Week box. Thanks to those of you who nominated this week’s honoree.

Al Mohler stinks:

1. He teaches that Christians should abstain from drinking alcohol.
2. He supports the use of torture.
3. When writing about prosperity teacher Joel Osteen, he opts not to be critical of him.

link

So here’s an evangelical leader who thinks alcohol is evil, torture is okay, and that prosperity theology is not a serious problem.

Do you really want a link to such a person?

“Do you really want a link to such a person?”

Do you really feel this is a fair way of summarizing the ministry of Albert Mohler: as a man who is pro-Osteen, anti-alcohol and pro-torture? That seems to be a little bit of an over-reaction, especially when one considers just how much benefit he has brought to the church. Dr. Mohler is clearly a godly man and I am honored to be able to link to him.

“Al Mohler is a wimp. He’s a pushover. He’s a purse-carrying theological nancy-boy controlled by his theocratic taskmasters in Colorado Springs.”
-from the website of the individual who posted above

It is hard to take someone very seriously who uses language like this to describe someone like Dr. Mohler- a man dedicated to the true gospel and who stands firm in his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

For those who know little about Mohler, please check out his web site that Tim has linked above, and also check out his daily radio show which can be downloaded to your computer and listened to at your convenience. I think you will see (and hear) just how much Al Mohler takes a stand for the truth while combating the secular trends of the day as they continue to creep into the church.

Tim,

One Salient Oversight is the same person who swore he was going remove you from his”to read” links and not visit anymore because you don’t buy into the junk science of global warming.

Guess that vow didn’t take. Welcome back.

I was visiting. I’m visiting now. And I’m only here because I clicked on a link. I have removed Tim from my bookmarks.

“I have removed Tim from my bookmarks.”

Well thank you. I would think that’s a wise decision.

Tim, I’ve removed you from my bookmarks, too.

Yep, I come here by clicking the link on my own blog. Trying to artificially inflate the value of my links, you see.
