No sooner had the T4G ‘08 conference wrapped up than I jumped in a van with a pack of guys from my church and headed straight home. We made it back to Toronto in pretty good time and with fewer adventures than on the way down. I enjoyed talking to the guys about their impressions of the conference and benefited from debriefing with them. There were lots of laughs and lots of good talks. Though there was a variety of opinions on which of the messages was best or most applicable or most challenging, we all agreed that it was a very good conference and I think we all returned home much encouraged.
If you would like to hear the conference messages, they are all available for you (and entirely free). You can find them right here: Together For the Gospel Sermons. Though each of them is well worth the listen, I would definitely recommend R.C. Sproul and John Piper. Those were the ones I found most personally challenging and edifying.
Here is a video containing some “exit interviews” with various participants of the Together for the Gospel ‘08 event. It concludes with some words from one of the youngest participants there—very reassuring about the rising generation!

Hey Tim, I tried to meet you this past week, but it never , worked out. I did see you, though, pulling out of the parking lot in your van packed with guys, lol.
I also want thank you for your comments on the panel board at BoB. You’ve helped me get a new perspective on blogging, and my focus is not more narrowed on what I am to be doing with my blogging. Thanks!

The impact of the reaffirmation for all of us that were at the T4G conference was simply breath taking. I will not try to describe the flamed affections many of us received from hearing such TRUTH at this conference from all the speakers to all the brothers and sisters I ran into (esp. those of us cramped in the Hyatt elevators, a new view for “Together” for the Gospel).
Just to note, if you haven’t heard, an earthquake in West Salem, Illinois happened this morning at 4:34AM and an aftershock at 10:15am. Both of which I personally felt. This was recorded in Louisville, KY all the way to Chicago, Iowa and where I am in Missouri some 182 miles from the epic center. In light of the conference I am reminded of God’s amazing power and glory, that an earthquake in the midwest, of all things would shake our “camps”, how fitting and ordained that He would shake us to get out of our camp and share this treasure we have in Christ.
to be distinctly His,

Tim:
Thanks for your blogging and for the download link on the messages.
Bill:
I think there was a ‘spiritual’ earthquake of our souls at T4G ‘08.
Well, time to get back on the carousel!
I pledge to read at 15 books before T4G ‘10.

Is this conference for pastors and leaders in the church, or can theology loving freak like myself just show up next year?

Thanks Tim for your blogging on this conference. What a wonderful experience to be able to hear God’s word faithfully taught in this context!
I hope you’ll forgive a slightly self-serving question; but was much mention made of Matthias Media USA resources? I understand that they were going to be available at the conference.

Tim,
It was great to meet you at BoB and T4G. I can relate to the van load of guys and quick trip home, I did the same. I concur with your recommendation of R C Sproul’s message, it reached a place in me that the Lord hasn’t touched for a long time. I’ve got a few other observations and the like at my blog for those who are interested.

Shane,
Anyone and everyone who loves the Gospel is invited to T4G. I met many pastors who brought van loads of regular old dudes here to hear the Gospel of our Lord and our gracious God glorified. The next one will be in Louisville in 2010. MAKE PLANS NOW to come. It’s been an amazing blessing for all of us who attended.

2010? No 2009? Bummer.
What about the Na conference? It seems aimed at Youth Pastors, is that a correct observation?

Shane,
It is aimed at, I think, singles and young married’s. I don’t know if it includes youth.

Tim,
The conference was wonderful and a true benefit to me and so many brothers. I was wondering if you or anyone else knows how we can get a hold of some of the music from the conference. I know the T4G website has the names of the songs, but are there any recordings of the actual music from the conference? Anyone?

I watched the video and recognized the dad and son at the end. They were getting ice cream at a stand in the convention center just ahead of me on Tuesday. In the video young Vlad mentions his excitement about getting a new Bible. At the ice cream stand, he was holding that new Bible and I noticed he wasn’t letting it out of his grip. It was touching to see him on the video and hear the story behind the story.
