I just got handed a copy of the ESV Study Bible by a roaming Crossway marketing guru. Ah, the joys of being a reviewer. The Bible is set for release this Tuesday and you can now order it from Amazon, Westminster Books, or any other online retailer. Westminster is offering it at a ridiculous discount in each of the eight editions and is shipping it starting today.

In regard to the calfskin edition, Crossway printers experienced some unforeseen complications that delayed them from shipping these. According to them, no retailers have received them yet but will become available soon.
Too bad Westminster books doesn’t ship to Canada.

Seriously this is going to be the “it” Bible (if you will) for this year without a doubt.
Ten minutes into our drive to True Women my husband called: Heather your ESV study bible just arrived at home!
We turned around the car and I spent the whole hour drive pouring over this wonderful new study bible. What a great blessing to have it for the conference!

The Bible sounds wonderful but being from Crossway, I wonder how good the physical quality is. I bought the Reformation edition a couple of years ago for my husband and we have not been at all pleased with the quality of the paper - it is very thin and tears easily - I’ve had to do several repairs already. It makes me a bit hesitant to try this new Bible.
I am starting 2 online bible studies based on the ESV Study Bible.

Both will contain much of the same content until I figure out which one is easier to use and update. The studies will work through one book at a time, one chapter at a time, and if necessary, one verse at a time. Comments are welcome and we will discuss the text along with the provided study notes.

In your review can you cover the specifics of its theology in the notes? Do they present one view predominantly, or are they balanced? I noticed it had a very balanced intro to Revelation, but I haven’t seen the actual notes to comment.
Other points of theology I would be curious about include:
Is it Cessationist or Charismatic, Covenantal or Dispensational, A-Millenial or Pre-Millenial (or Post), Credo or Paedo Baptistic etc?
