The Best of R.C. Sproul on DVD

One of the benefits of working with Ligonier Ministries over the past months has been reading, watching or listening to many of R.C. Sproul’s books and teaching series. Having done so, I thought I’d provide a roundup of some of his best DVDs, most of which are teaching series in which he provides lectures on one topic or another. Each of these is also available as a download if you prefer to get it that way.
Do note that there is a lot of benefit in owning these DVDs, but it may be even more beneficial to watch them and then donate them to your church library.
Dust to Glory - Here is Ligonier’s description of this unique set: “Join Dr. Sproul on a unique study tour as he explores the major themes, events, and people that are brought to life in the Bible. Dust to Glory provides a panorama of biblical truth and a starting point to help you understand the content of the Bible. Dust to Glory can energize your study of the Bible, provide you with new insights, and improve your ability to read, understand, and apply Scripture to your life.” All of which is to say that this series takes you through the Bible book-by-book, drawing out the major themes of each. It’s available in New Testament and Old Testament (or as a package).
What Is Reformed Theology? - “You've heard of Reformed theology, but you're not certain what it is. Some references to it have been positive, some negative. It appears to be important, and you'd like to know more about it. And you want a full explanation, not a simplistic one.” That’s essentially what Sproul offers in this series. Since so many of us are describing ourselves as Reformed today, it seems like it would be worthwhile for each of us to at least look into the foundations of this theology! (Read more or Buy it)
The Holiness of God - I guess my admiration for Dr. Sproul’s teaching on the holiness of God has been well-established around these parts. But let me say again, that this series (and/or the accompanying book) is absolutely foundational in establishing an understanding of the character of God. I can’t recommend it enough. Foundations - Foundations is a massive series, and a very good one. It is, in essence, a systematic theology. In this series “R.C. Sproul shows that the truths of Scripture relate to each other in perfect harmony. This eye-opening series addresses a myriad of questions about the origin and authority of the Bible, God, the Trinity, man, sin, salvation, revelation, miracles, the church, the end times, and more.” It’s a big series and will take real commitment to get through, but it will be well worth that effort. The Prince’s Poison Cup - Dr. Sproul has written several children’s books and a couple of them have been released in animatic format. “With The Prince's Poison Cup, Dr. R.C. Sproul continues his series of books designed to present deep biblical truths to children on their own level. In this work, he focuses in on the atonement to show that Jesus had to endure the curse of sin in order to redeem His people from their spiritual death. CD audiobook also included.” This one is great to watch and then listen to with the children. My own kids have really enjoyed Dr. Sproul’s kids’ books. (Read more or Buy it)
Chosen by God - Dr. Sproul is known for two emphases—the holiness of God and Reformed Theology. Chosen by God, which looks at the doctrine of predestination, remains one of his most popular books. In this teaching series Sproul “shows how election is entirely compatible with human freedom, dignity, and responsibility. One of Ligonier's most significant and popular books, Chosen by God shows why all serious Christians cannot afford to ignore this important biblical doctrine, but instead should embrace God's initiative in Salvation.” (Read more or Buy it)

I served at Ligonier for several years, and I would echo the “Chosen by God” series as being significant. It appeared to us that as we traveled around the country, as we received emails and phone calls, that Chosen stood out as being used by God to change lives more than any other.
On Fridays, I always hope Ligonier will have from Dust to Glory in their specials. :) Someday…
RC is the best. He teaches the Word, and does it with such authority, humility, and integrity.
I wish I could own all his DVD’s.
Ligonier’s “rymoffer.com” site had “Dust” available for a gift of any amount the last weekend of October, after the Reformation Study Bible offer expired.
Just when I thought I would be able to slow down on my book buying… all of these look great. Now where do I buy the time to read/view them all?
