A La Carte (1/30)

Tuesday January 30, 2007

Du Jour: Julian reflects on the "inadequacy" of language to describe God.

Music: Derek Webb releases a new album today composed of acoustic versions of some of his hits (which, in my opinion, were already plenty acoustic). You can read a review here. Sounds like this one may be for only the real Webb fans.

Humor: I hear Mike Huckabee has declared his candidacy for President. I wonder if this will come to haunt him (this is what Canadians do for fun).

Art: Reformation Art is now offering a John Calvin t-shirt.

RE: Humor…Mike Huckabee

OK first off, Canada doesn’t have a National Igloo??!?!?!?? Well if you don’t, you should. Americans would no doubt flock to it.

Actually, Huckabee’s a pretty smart guy with a pretty good since of humor, I really think he was playing along with Mr. Mercer there. Huckabee’s the guy who gained national attention for moving into a “triple wide trailer” while his Governors Mansion was be remodeled. And if not, he wouldn’t be the only politician to fall for one of Mr. Mercer’s “pranks”. (or Borat’s for that matter).

Finally, living in Arkansas for for pretty much the las 20 years, we could do a lot worse than having a born again Christian, Baptist minister, who is against abortion and for traditional marriage, as a president (the Anti-Clinton). This may be a tough sell to the rest of the country for sure, but if Billary wins, I may be moving to Canada in 2009, maybe the Igloo will be up and running by then.
