Church: The author of a new book says "says the achievements of the African American community are losing ground, especially among church leaders who have shifted more focus onto individual achievement." The cause is the prosperity gospel.
Technology: Looks like Windows Vista isn't selling so well. Like everyone else, I have been very hesitant to make the jump and don't plan on it anytime soon.
Reading: Al Mohler has a "why didn't I think of that?" moment.
Film: Amazing Grace, the movie about William Wilberforce opens tomorrow. Carolyn McCulley is a big fan.

Hey Tim,
Like so many other of your esteemed readers, I don’t have to agonize whether or not to upgrade to Vista, since I’ve been running the superior OS to Vista for years (hint, hint)

If you wait long enough for Vista, you could just get Leopard instead for a real upgrade :) .

I just started using XP on my laptop in the last year. The last thing I am going to do at this point is go to Vista. Experience tells me that every M-soft OS upgrade comes with a whole host of headaches for me. Windows 2000 works fine with the software I use on it, and XP does as well.
On my other machines where I don’t do video editing, I use Linux, and will stick with that.

Whenever Mohler has a “why didn’t I think of that?” moment, we should all tune in! LOL!
Great post on reading! I included it in my [Tolle Lege] series of posts in my xanga.

Tim, the CNET article should be quoted a bit more in context. Though “boxed” sales of Vista are lower than XP this is to be expected with it having certain hardware requirements (video cards esp). This better suits Vista to be purchased with a new PC. Which makes this statistic the telling one:
Personally, I am waiting for the hybrid flash/hard drives and then I will get a new tricked out Vista machine.
Additionally, the word is that the new MS Office is selling very well. I am using it and think it is a great improvement.
