Monday April 2, 2007

Church: BBC has an interesting article tied to a documentary about America's most hated family (the Phelps "God Hates Fags" family).

Humor: The ladies of GirlTalk share a great little video clip.

Book: At Beginning with Moses you can get a deal on "Pierced for our Transgressions," an important book dealing with the doctrine of penal substitution.

Humor: Following up on last week's strange Google map, here is one that is bound to get you in big trouble.

Church: The Christian Post says Christians were pleasantly surprised by the recent Time cover story about teaching the Bible in public schools.

You can watch that documentary on the Phelps on youtube (in 7 parts) It is an interesting but disturbing program.

I expected to see a twisted and extremist Christian group on it, but was surprised that despite their claims to be Christian and even a TULIP banner in their church, they seemed to be so obsessed with the anti-gay agenda that very little of their “religion” resembled Christianity at all any more! I don’t say that in a judgemental way, but there were a lot of extremely offbeat beliefs they had on such key issues as the nature of the church, the nature of and assurance of salvation that I don’t think they really count as a Christian group at all, let alone a reformed one as they claim! I don’t remember Jesus being mentioned once. Their “god” had become hating homosexuals!
