McCain Fights Back
Love him or hate him, you've got to admit that McCain had a great moment a couple of days ago. Speaking at a motorcycle rally, "As you may know, not long ago a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day,"
Skeel on Solzhenitsyn
David Skeel has a short but powerful post on Solzhenitsyn.
Sleepless in America
"Whether we are chemically stimulating because we do not get enough sleep, or whether the caffeine itself is depriving us of precious rest, we are also sleeping less than ever before. Americans get an average of six and a half hours of sleep a night, a 25 percent drop since the early 1900s."

I can’t imagine how difficult it has been for the Chapman family over the last several months. Watching their interview reminds me how important it is for us to seek answers and to meditate upon the Word daily, because when we fall on hard times, we may not have the courage or energy to say what needs to be said or to seek the answers. I was very discouraged to hear Steven say that not having answers is exactly what faith is. That is not exactly what faith is. Faith is having specific answers and believing them to be true. Telling a national audience that faith means you don’t know simply encourages an irrational leap of faith that is not biblical.

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching 12th graders along side Truett’s son Dan the past few years. The Cathys are one of the most unassuming families I have ever met. God has truly blessed them for their commitment to the Sabbath day. When the article first went through the AJC, the act of grace didn’t surprise me as much as the volume of grace. It forced me to stop and ask, if I was wronged by this much, would I have shown the same level of grace? Do I have a mystery level that I’ll be graceful up to that point and no further?
