Wikipedia Scrubs Obama Eligibility Questions
This article at WND draws interesting comparisons between Obama's profile at Wikipedia and George W. Bush's. Guess which one is not allowed to have anything negative attached to it.
The Canadian Solution
Newsweek explains why Canadian banks are not failing and have no need of bailouts. "Canadian banks are typically leveraged at 18 to 1--compared with U.S. banks at 26 to 1 and European banks at a frightening 61 to 1. Partly this reflects Canada's more risk-averse business culture, but it is also a product of old-fashioned rules on banking."

I love "Monday with Mounce." This week he looks to 1 Timothy 3:2 to ask whether an elder may be previously divorced.

Here is an interview with The Shack author William Young. In it he flatly denies the substitutionary atonement (which was one of the questions many people had as they read the book).

Well, it isn’t unexpected, given his view of God and sin. If God isn’t wrathful toward the sinner (a fact to which the Bible clearly attests), then how on earth could He ever direct His wrath at His son?
But at least he has now flatly denied it, rather than dancing around the issue.

I think it will be too long before it gets nasty. Word is that the cussing pastor’s people are fuming at Johnson’s devestating attack on their man.
But I don’t expect that Driscoll will want to go head to head with Johnson. Pastor Mark knows better than to mess with MacArthur’s right hand man.

One can tell he is a Canadian, that country has “united” Christian Churches into one united church of Canada..no matter the doctrines.. he fits that well.
I would like to know what god that atheist woman now believe in..
Having a false god is no better than having no god..

Re: Wikipedia and Obama:
Wikipedia attempts to present truth. I’m sure if I edited George W. Bush’s page and added that he was a space alien bent on the eradication of the human species…that it would be edited off. Why? Because there’s no credible evidence for it. Similarly, the accusations that Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii are similarly uncredible.
Re: Elders & Divorce:
Probably depends on the circumstances of the divorce. Did the prospective elder initiate the divorce or was he divorced “against his will”? Has he remarried? If he did initiate the divorce, was there “just cause” (i.e. adultery on the part of his wife)?

Terry, I am not sure you meant it this way, but it would seem that you are dissing all Canadians. Are you aware that Tim Challies lives in Canada? I am also a Canadian myself and know of many fine Reformed Christians that are Canadians.
I would agree with you that there are many Churches in Canada that are lacking in biblical truth, but I can say the same thing Churches in other nations such as the US and England.
If you didn’t mean your comments the way I understood them, then please say so.
I have run into too many Christians that like to knock others for their nationality. In fact I once had a conversation with a lady who I agree with theologically, but because I am Canadian she was less than cordial to me. The whole conversation left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I am not picking on Americans here either, for I know Canadians that also hate Americans.

I think Terry is talking about the denomination, The United Church of Canada, our most fastest growing, most liberally minded denomination. While the denomination at large is apostate (believing in Jesus as a way, not the way; fully endorses same-sex marriage), there are still congregations that are firmly evangelical. A coworker of mine attends a United Church in Aylmer, and he’s one of the most graceful, humble men I know. His pastor’s actually been disciplined by the denomination for teaching “too much Bible.”

Aaron, it sounded to me like Terry was saying that all denominations in Canada have been united into one (bringing to mind the government-controlled churches of some countries, like China). Anyway, he’s wrong. Thanks!

And, also contrary to what Aaron said (sorry Aaron) the United Church of Canada is not the fastest growing church in Canada. Quite the opposite.
