The Final Pre-Order Push
- 03/29/11
- 14
Today I’m making the final pre-order push for The Next Story: Life and Faith After the Digital Explosion. I know I’ve mentioned it a few times already, so bear with me. I want to tell you about it again simply because it gives you an opportunity to get the book at a really good discount.
Along the way I’ve mentioned the special e-book deal we worked out. For every 200 people who order the book for Kindle, the ebook price will fall by $1 (and, since you aren’t actually charged until release day, that price will apply even to those who pre-ordered it at a higher price). The price has already fallen from $9.99 to $6.99 and I’m pretty sure we can get it down to $5.99 by the end of this week when we need to set the final price. That price will apply to all e-reading platforms (iBooks, Nook, Kindle, etc).
On April 11 the price will return to $9.99. So don’t dawdle: go ahead and pre-order it for Kindle.
If you would rather read it in printed format you can pre-order it from Westminster Books and Amazon. I recommend Westminster since if you order from Westminster Books you will receive a signed copy of the book. And, you know, signed copies are fun. But to get your copy signed, you need to order today.
Still Not Convinced?
You can learn a lot more about the book, download a sample chapter, read the endorsements, read a review, etc, by clicking here.

I am not noticing the book in the ibook store. Do you know if it is available there? I searched under the book’s name and your name. Thanks
Got it! If only I could get you to sign my digital copy…
Hi Tim,
Wondering, how can I order the book on the Nook for the discounted price?

I pre-ordered just to reward the attempt at providing a genuine discount for e-books. It’s a principle thing that I think publishers need to figure out sooner rather than later. I’ve enjoyed this blog for a couple of months now, so I’d also like to throw in my support for Tim and his efforts to edify the Church.
Thank you, Tim, for your insights and your willingness to take a gamble on the e-book discount.

I believe you’ll be able to do that between April 4 and April 11. Then the price will revert to $9.99. I’ll be sure to make a note of it here at the blog.
Just ordered my copy Tim. Can’t wait to read it!
I clicked pre-order in a few weeks ago until today I read this. I decided go to my account with amazon and cancel it and will click it to order with low price before April 11. Thanks for letting me know!! Looking forward to receiving your e-book. I know it is not possible to get your signature through e-book. But I have your name on it. May the Lord bless you and your family!
I love watching the price on my Amazon order go down. Can’t wait to read this!
For all the UK readers, this is currently down to 4.53 in the UK kindle store!
It is now at $5.99!!!
Arrived this morning. Reduced to 3.94 in the UK! Thank you Tim :-)
Following your link, I pre-ordered it last week. Today I received the invoice from Amazon with $8.39. Maybe the discount is not apply to non-us customer.
US customer here… Got the invoice from Amazon this morning for the full $9.99+tax. Which is particularly strange because the invoice email shows the product info with a $5.99 price. Screw-up on Amazon’s part?
Exact same issue as James Kubecki except no tax. I just received the invoice for Amazon and the price is $9.99. It hasn’t, yet, actually been billed through to my account so maybe the actual billing will reflect the true price. I am a little concerned, though.
