This week's Free Stuff Fridays is sponsored by Kress Biblical Resources. "Kress Biblical Resources is setting a new standard in timely, clear, and doctrinally sound books and resources for pastors and Bible students. Our authors are approved workmen, not celebrities. Our books are designed to stand the test of exegesis, not chase after every new wind of doctrine."

Kress is giving away 5 prize packages this week. Each of the 5 winners will receive the following 3 books:

  • The Upper Room by John MacArthur. "In The Upper Room, Pastor John MacArthur takes us back to that night and the glorious hope we have in Christ. This is vintage MacArthur--an exposition of the text that resonates with devotion to the Lord and love for God's people, calling us to know and to love the One who loved us to the end."
  • Wait: Waiting on God in a World that Won't Wait by Smedly Yates. "Waiting on God is a lost art in the Christian life. Everybody waits, but nobody likes to wait. Waiting feels like a waste of time, an unnecessary exercise in patience, or a foreboding sense that something bad is about to happen. More than we realize, we have grown accustomed to filling our desires instantaneously, and we have taught ourselves to miss out on one of the most rewarding exercises in all of life."
  • The Cup and the Glory: Lessons on Suffering and the Glory of God by Greg Harris. "In the Cup and the Glory, Greg Harris takes his readers on a profound journey through the Scriptures as they explore the way to suffer for Christ, with Christ."

This week's Free Stuff Fridays is sponsored by Adam4d.com, one of my favorite web comics. I appreciate a lot of Adam's material, and especially the ones in which he describes those universal Christian experiences (e.g. The Prayer Fairy) or really rotten theology (e.g. Trust Your Heart, Sweetie). Adam4d sells some of his comics as prints and today I'm giving away a few of them. But, even better, he has also published a collection of his comics called Implications Abound. I will be giving those away as well.

There will be five winners this week, and each winner will receive the book and will also be able to choose one of those prints to receive.

This week's Free Stuff Fridays is sponsored by Crossway. Crossway is offering 5 great prize packages this week, and each of the packages contains some of their new books. That means there will be 5 winners this week, and each of them will receive these 3 books:

Praying the BiblePraying the Bible by Donald Whitney. "When you pray, does it ever feel like you’re just saying the same old things about the same old things? Offering us the encouragement and the practical advice we’re all looking for, Donald S. Whitney, best-selling author of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, outlines an easy-to-grasp method that has the power to transform our prayer life: praying the words of Scripture. Simple, yet profound, Praying the Bible will prove invaluable as you seek to commune with your heavenly Father in prayer each and every day."

Things Not SeenThings Not Seen: A Fresh Look at Old Stories of Trusting God's Promises by Jon Bloom. "God is doing far more than we can see in our pain. We plead for God’s deliverance from our pain and wonder why he keeps letting it go on. We are not alone. A cloud of witnesses surrounds us and they help us understand. In these 35 creative retellings of Bible stories, Jon Bloom explores the hope and joy that Abraham, Moses, Naomi, John the Baptist, and others experienced in the painful process of discovering that God’s promises really are more trustworthy than our perceptions."

Really TeachWhat Does the Bible Really Teach about Homosexuality? by Kevin DeYoung. "In this timely book, award-winning author Kevin DeYoung challenges each of us—the skeptic and the seeker, the certain and the confused—to take a humble look at God’s Word regarding the issue of homosexuality. After examining key biblical passages in both the Old and New Testaments and the Bible’s overarching teaching regarding sexuality, DeYoung responds to popular objections raised by Christians and non-Christians alike, making this an indispensable resource for thinking through one of the most pressing issues of our day."

This week's Free Stuff Fridays is sponsored by Christian Focus. Christian Focus Publications, based in the North of Scotland, produce a range of books from well-known authors such as John Piper, Tim Chester and J.I Packer. Their mission is to "reach out and stay faithful," serving every corner of the world with high-quality Christian literature. You can connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.

They are giving away some great prize packages this week. There will be 5 winners this week, and each of them will receive the following books:

Motyer A Christian's Pocket Guide to Loving the Old Testament: One Book, One God, One Story by Alec Motyer. Packed within this book is a love for the Old Testament cultivated over nearly ninety years. It presents the insight of a seasoned scholar in a way that is both pastorally warm and intellectually accessible. This accessible yet powerful addition to the Pocket Guide series draw together the threads of Scripture to help us understand the power of God's word when viewed in its completeness. "Now 90, Alec Motyer retains all his old clarity, warmth and charm as he shares his infectious affection for, and insight into, Jesus's Bible. This is a first-rate get-you-started book." (J. I. Packer)

Rubies Far Above Rubies: The Life of Bethan Lloyd-Jones by Lynette G. Clark. The galleries of the great heroes of faith contain many inspirational women; although not always placed in as prominent a position for all to see, their service has been invaluable in God's kingdom. The wife of Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones was such a woman. Bethan Lloyd-Jones' portrait has long been hidden in a part of the gallery known only to her family and certain close friends. Lynette G. Clark brings this portrait into view, capturing the wit, wisdom and faith of a godly wife, mother and friend. "What a rich and colorful portrait, of a godly woman who served her Savior with wit and wisdom...This is a portrait worth stopping to relish and study." (Kathleen B. Nielson, Director of Women's Initiatives, The Gospel Coalition)

Moody How Church Can Change Your Life: Answers to the 10 Most Common Questions about Church by Josh Moody. Google books on church, there will be no shortage of choice! Some will be helpful, others less so. So why another book on church? Josh Moody, is, in fact, asking a very different question: why should I go to church at all? Filled with practical advice, this book will help you answer questions you maybe should have known the answer to and other questions you never knew to ask! "... a powerful and needed reminder of the central role the local church should play in the life of every Christian." (R. Albert Mohler)

Chester Crown of Thorns: Connecting Kingdom and Cross by Tim Chester. Within evangelicalism today it can sometimes seem there are two competing versions of the gospel. There is the gospel of the kingdom with its focus on God's plan to restore the world. And there is the gospel of the cross with its focus on the offer of forgiveness. These two emphases create contrasting models of discipleship and mission. In Crown of Thorns Tim Chester shows how these two gospels are really one gospel - the message of the King who establishes justice in a surprising way. "This book is an absolute gift for those who want a holistic discipleship that 'teaches them to obey everything I have commanded you.''"(Daniel Montgomery, Senior Pastor, Sojourn Community Church, Louisville, Kentucky)
