Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: September 2011

It’s September 1 and that means that I’ve got a whole new batch of amazing desktop wallpaper designs for you to download. Thanks to each of this month’s designers for sending along some amazing work.

A few notes: 320 x 480 is for your iPhone; 1024 x 1024 is for your iPad; your desktop or laptop may take any of the other sizes depending on your monitor size and a host of other considerations. If you’re not sure of the size, just find one that looks like it would be pretty much the same size as your screen. Generally you set one of these are your wallpaper by clicking on the link to the image, then right-clicking on the image (once it’s open) and selecting “Set as Background,” “Set as Desktop Background,” or something similar. If you aren’t sure, post a comment and we’ll try to help you figure it out.

One of the designers will win a $50 Amazon or Westminster Books gift certificate courtesy of Church Plant Media. How can you have your say? You can have your say in who wins by downloading a wallpaper? Each download counts as a vote (and no, you can’t download the same wallpaper 100 times and have your vote tallied each time).

There is no featured designer this month; that feature will return in October.

For the Healing of the Nations

Created by Jeff Nine from Oklahoma City, OK. God promised the full restoration of all, and to that end we hope.

Interview with Jeff

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

Jeff NineMy wife, Cheri, and I have been married for 8 years, have 2 young daughters, and recently moved to Oklahoma City to begin work on a new church plant. I graduated with an M.Div from Denver Seminary back in May, and run a one-man design & web development studio, Studio Nine Creative.

Overall, I’m a relatively boring guy, a self-confessed theology nerd, and wearer of too many polo shirts (so says my wife). I love the local church, and love serving it in any way I can. Currently we are laying the foundation for a new church plant in Oklahoma City, I serve on the board of a small non-profit helping a small network of churches in Central Mexico, and I love helping churches with design and web development services.

Created by Harold Sikkema from Hamilton, Canada. This is the sort of dream you might picture filling that miragey space between the horizon and the sky on an open scorched August highway: somewhere equally hazy and metallic, but closer to the cool splash of Ontario lake trout.

July Light

Interview with Shannon

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

ShannonMy wife Tricia and I live in Rockford, Illinois, and are the parents of five children (4 girls and 1 boy). We moved to Rockford from North Carolina just over four years ago to join Morning Star Church where we are actively involved. We love the people, the culture of grace, and the Gospel-centered teaching. It’s been exciting for us to belong to a vibrant church that is actively growing and encouraging people in their relationship to Christ and to each other.

My full-time employment is with Positive Action for Christ (www.positiveaction.org) which is based in Rocky Mount, NC. Positive Action produces Bible curriculum primarily for Christian and Home Schools as well as curriculum for church youth. I serve as the lone graphic designer as well as being part of the administrative team. In addition, I am able to use my talents to do graphic design for other ministries and businesses around the country (www.facebook.com/advancegraphics).

Be Still

Created by Michael Davenport from Mebane, NC. We as Christians know too well the tendency of Martha - we are busy about many things, even for the Master. Let us not forget that Mary made the better choice - to sit at the feet of Jesus - to be still, and know that He is God.

Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: June 2011

Welcome to June! To welcome you to this new month, I’ve got a great batch of desktop wallpapers for you to download to your computer, cell phone, tablet or anything else that needs some prettying up. Each of these has been designed by a reader of this site who is a graphic designer. I think this may be our best batch of wallpapers yet. And each one is free for the download.

A few notes: 320 x 480 is for your iPhone; 1024 x 1024 is for your iPad; your desktop or laptop may take any of the other sizes depending on your monitor size and a host of other considerations. I am doing something new this month and featuring one designer—a new tradition I hope to carry on in the months to come. This month’s featured designer is Eric Novak.

Flowers of the Field

Created by Eric Novak from Chicago, IL. Matthew 6:28-29 doesn’t point us to a worldview of sloth, Paul condemns that in 1 Timothy 5:8. It does, however, point us towards a radical trust in God for all our needs…

Flowers of the Field

Interview with Eric

Tell me a little bit about yourself—where you live, where you go to church, and so on.

My name is Eric Novak and I live just north of Chicago. Generally when people ask where I’m from, I default to the nearest big city so they can place me on the map, but realistically I’m up north of Chicago in the dying farmland of Illinois. I’m part of a great Christian body with a theologically sound name: Trinity Community Church. I was raised in Illinois and it’s where I started, Latitude821 an online publishing company with the goal of encouraging and building up Christians through articles relevant to their daily lives.

Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: March 2011

Last month, on February 1, I offered up a list of desktop wallpapers that were free for you to download and use on your computer, iPhone, iPad or other device. That turned out to be a hit, so here we are on March 1 with another list of wallpapers. Each of these has been designed by a Christian graphic designer or artist and each of them is free for you to download—just click the appropriate link and save the image.

A few notes: 320 x 480 is for your iPhone; 1024 x 1024 is for your iPad; your desktop or laptop may take any of the other sizes depending on your monitor size and a host of other considerations. Generally you set one of these are your wallpaper by clicking on the link to the image, then right-clicking on the image (once it’s open) and selecting “Set as Background,” “Set as Desktop Background,” or something similar.

I’d like to get a bit of buzz going about this post, so I’ll keep an eye on anyone who tweets it or links to it on a blog; I’ll give away a few Westminster Books gift certificates to those kind enough to do so.

Never Every Morning

Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar: February 2011

This may be the strangest memory of my entire childhood: at some point I acted in a class play in which I played the role of February. Yes, February. I was a whiny little month, complaining that I was the shortest month and also the one that no one likes because the weather always stinks. I don’t remember how the play ended. Actually, I don’t remember if I had the audience eating out of my hand or if I stank it up. I probably stank it up.

The fact is that February just isn’t the best month—it’s that one between the start of a new year and the start of Spring. But you know what will help brighten it a little bit? Some amazing desktop wallpaper. And so I asked a whole lot of graphic designers if they would like to come up with wallpaper that is appropriate for the month. And now it’s free for you to download.

So go ahead—brighten up your month and download some great wallpaper.

A few notes: 320 x 480 is for your iPhone; 1024 x 1024 is for your iPad; your desktop or laptop may take any of the other sizes depending on your monitor size and a host of other considerations. You may need to ask your computer-whiz nephew to help you figure out the one that’s best.

Scripture Memory Wallpaper - Romans 13

Romans 13

As you know, I’ve been enjoying memorizing passages of Scripture with readers of this site. To this point we have finished Psalm 8, Psalm 103 and Romans 12. We are hard at work on Romans 13. I thought it might be valuable to offer wallpapers for your desktop that tied in to the memorization program (though even if you are not participating you may enjoy them). I had a graphics designer come up with some designs and will link them each time we begin a new passage. Here, then, is a wallpaper you can download for Romans 13.

You can download it in four sizes:

1024 x 768, 1680 x 1050, 1600 x 1200, 1920 x 1200

Not sure how to change your wallpaper? Windows users click here, Mac users click here.

I hope you find them useful. In the coming weeks I’ll post wallpapers for Psalm 8, Psalm 103 and Romans 12.
