Here are some more photographs from the conference—these ones from day two. Worshiping through song. Worshiping the Lord together. John MacArthur receiving a medallion commemorating 25 years since the release of the first volume of the MacArthur New Testament Commentary series. There are more photos after the jump (i.e. after you click on the link to continue reading). I wanted to be sensitive to those who have slower internet connections… John MacArthur preaching the word. John MacArthur and a fan. …

TDoSD: The First Endorsement

I mentioned last week that I had received the first endorsement for The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment, or TDoSD if you were trying to decipher the headline, (which, to remind you, should be available on January 7 of next year). A few weeks ago the manuscript was sent to a handful of authors, teachers and other people I much admire who indicated they would be willing to read through it with a view to providing an endorsement. Now under normal …

Book Review – American Patriot

George “Bud” Day is the most decorated officer in the modern history of the U.S. military, having won (this is a chest seriously full of medals and ribbons) the Medal of Honor, Air Force Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal for Valor with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal for Merit, Purple Heart with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with nine Oak Leaf Clusters, National Order of Vietnam, Vietnam …

A La Carte (3/13)

Tuesday March 13, 2007 Audio: The Shepherds’ Conference audio is now available. I’m guessing MacArthur’s first address will be the most downloaded. Conference: Ligonier will be offering a free video stream of the National Conference which begins on Thursday. Du Jour: In case you missed this article by Al Mohler, you’ll want to read it now. Eschatology: Justin Taylor has linked to what looks to be a good series about problems with premillenialism.

Resolved Conference (Reflections)

Well, I made it home. Our flight was delayed for a few hours while the ground crew changed one of the plane’s tires but we eventually climbed aboard and made our way home. In retrospect, taking the red-eye home was probably a bad idea. But at least I got home and am back with my family, even if I am dog tired! I really enjoyed the Resolved Conference. It was far different from the other conferences I’ve had the privilege …

The Death of a Tyrant

“Saddam Hussein, among the world’s most brutal dictators, struggled briefly after American military guards handed him over to Iraqi executioners. But as his final moments approached, he grew calm. Dressed in a black coat and trousers, he clutched a Qur’an as he was led to the gallows, and in one final moment of defiance, refused to have a hood pulled over his head. After a quarter-century of remorseless brutality that killed countless thousands and led Iraq into disastrous wars against …

Book Review: Flags of our Fathers

War is terrible. It’s an understatement, I know, and something that is almost too obvious to bother saying. Yet the horrors of war can only really be understood, it seems, by those who have been involved in them. In the annals of warfare, few battles have been more brutal than the battle of Iwo Jima. Those who survived this battle were changed forever. James Bradley’s father was one of those survivors. But he was more. He was one of the …

The Church and its Dirty Laundry

Blogs have provided a unique platform for a great many people. As blogs have gained some degree of credibility beyond the blogosphere, members of the mainstream media often turn to bloggers for opinions. A lot of bloggers, despite losing confidence in the mainstream media, still consider a mention in a major magazine or newspaper to be the holy grail of blogging. In recent months, I have often been approached by media outlets, ranging from CNN to the Wall Street Journal, …
