Why Do Good Things Happen? – “Forget for a moment the question of why there is evil in the world. Ask: why is there good in the world? Bad things happen to people, but have you noticed that good things do too? We’re easily inclined to say that life should be better than it is. But why aren’t we inclined to think that life should be worse?”

Connecting the Dots – “One of the most important paragraphs in the Bible may very well be Romans 3:21-26. This densely packed paragraph offers a thorough and glorious discussion of justification by faith. Not surprisingly, this paragraph plays a crucial role in the history of doctrine.”

Grown Up, Not Sexed Up – Tish Harrison has quite an interesting article at CT. You may not agree with it all, but it’s interesting nonetheless. “I’m interested instead in what leads Miley Cyrus or the midriff-baring girl up the street to believe that in order to prove her adulthood, she must become an object of male sexual consumption. And I’m interested in how the church can offer her an alternative.”

Danielle – This is an amazing video of a girl who will slowly age right before your eyes. “I attempted to create a person in order to emulate the aging process. The idea was that something is happening but you can’t see it but you can feel it, like aging itself.”

Banner of Truth – The Banner of Truth has a nice new web site. You should probably check it out.

Women Preaching, Women Blogging – Aimee Byrd answers this question: “Do you believe it is okay for a woman to think and write about theology, given she will also be read by men such as myself? If so, why is not allowed for a woman to preach?”

The first step toward attaining a higher standard of holiness is to realize more fully the amazing sinfulness of sin.

    Performative Grief

We all know what it is to perform grief—to ensure that others are aware of our sadness by forcing them to see our sorrow. We may do this to gain their attention or compel their sympathy. We may do this because we make grief an idol and are only validated when others feel sorry for…
