Preorder My New Book and Documentary!

From the Rising of the Sun

A few years ago I had an audacious idea: To travel the world and worship with Christians from east to west and north to south. The idea became a proposal and the proposal became a journey. Before I knew it I was traveling to Tonga, Fiji, Australia, South Korea, Zambia and far beyond. Everywhere I went, I joined Christians as they worshipped on the Lord’s Day. Everywhere I went, I observed how these believers worshipped in ways that are guided by Scripture and informed by sound doctrine, yet also consistent with the local culture and customs. Everywhere I went, I was blessed to see clear evidence that the gospel is extending from dateline to dateline and pole to pole.

I didn’t make this journey alone. My friend Tim Keesee came with me and so did a cameraman. Together we created a book and video series titled From the Rising of the Sun: A Journey of Worship Around the World. And it is now available for preorder! If you purchase the book, you will get a code to watch the 12-part documentary for no extra cost.

You can preorder it at:

Starting in Fiji, you’ll follow the sun as it rises and sets, moving through Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and beyond. Along the way, you’ll meet brothers and sisters in Christ who worship amidst stunning landscapes, vibrant cities, and remote jungles. From the hymns sung in Korea’s bustling metropolises to the prayers offered in Zambia’s open plains, you’ll see and feel the unity and diversity of God’s people.

Each chapter invites you into the heart of a country or region and includes:

  • Beautiful descriptions of diverse worship.
  • Fascinating travel anecdotes.
  • Meaningful Bible studies.
  • Reflections on worship.
  • Discussion questions.
  • A video session to enhance your experience.

Whether you’re passionate about global missions, fascinated by cultural diversity, or simply looking to deepen your understanding of worship, From the Rising of the Sun will inspire and uplift you. Take this unique opportunity to celebrate God’s glory through the voices of believers worldwide, and see how the Gospel unites us all.

A Pleasure More Than An Obligation

Christians are often portrayed as downcast and dour, as people who are trapped in a system of beliefs that robs them of joy and life. And with a bit of honest self-examination, we can probably think of times when we have fit the cliché.

  • Sex and Self-Forgetfulness

Sex, Self-Forgetfulness, and the Joy of Serving Your Spouse

I often think there is a kind of paradoxical quality to sex within marriage. It’s paradoxical in that few things have greater ability to bring blessing (through its right use) or to bring cursing (through its misuse). Not only that, but few things bring greater joy to a marriage, and also, in so many cases,…
