Free Stuff Fridays (Rain for Roots Edition)

It is time for another Free Stuff Fridays, and this week’s edition is brought to you by Rain for Roots. Rain for Roots is a collaboration between Sandra McCracken, Flo Paris, Katy Bowser, and Ellie Holcomb and together they make new songs about the old Story, and they make them for children. There will be 5 winners this week, and each of the winners will receive CD copies of all 3 Rain for Roots albums: Big Stories for Litte Ones, The Kingdom of Heaven Is Like This, and Waiting Songs.

Waiting SongsThe new album, Waiting Songs, has just been released and is an album of Advent. They say:

These songs are about making time for waiting. The King is coming and He is already here. So we practice listening, quieting ourselves, celebrating, whispering good news, and yelling shouts of joy. In the Rain for Roots family, we practice most of all by singing to ourselves, to each other, and to our children about true things. He is coming — the Joy of Every Longing Heart. Our longing hearts. Grown ups and children; we are the same in this. Through these songs, may God call us closer into conversation with Himself while we wait and hope with expectation. He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found.

If you would like to hear it, you can listen in on Bandcamp.

When It Feels Like the Temptation Is Coming From Outside

No Christian tradition is perfect, which means that every Christian tradition has its own strengths and weaknesses. Every tradition has areas in which it presses hard to understand and live according to biblical truth, but then also areas in which it inevitably fails to completely match Scripture’s teaching and emphases. Since every tradition is the…
