Dockers
Dockers is telling men to put on the pants. Paul shares their “man-ifesto.”
Top 10 Cultural Moments
If this is culture, I start to have more sympathy for those Christians who are always talking about redeeming culture.
Uncle Jay Explains
I enjoyed this week’s episode of Uncle Jay Explains. This guy’s got a great sense of humor…
He Had Faith in His Job
This is kind of sad: ” A reporter’s work covering church sex scandals, religious tycoons and healers tests his beliefs — and triggers a revelation.”

Something I noticed: the Top 10 Culture Moments didn’t stick me as that bad. Now, perhaps it’s because I could (in fact, did) imagine it being much worse. But it also could be because I’m so immersed in it. That’s the possibility that worries me. Thank you for the reminder, even if it’s starting to sound cliche at this point. [On a lighter note, it’s refreshing to see SHAQ polishing up his writing skills. :>) ]
Also, the story “He had faith in his job” was, for me, very thought-provoking. Thanks for posting it - I missed it back when it was published. The whole topic goes along with the culture topic in reexamining Christian culture.

The Newsweek list is ludicrous. Thanks for reminding me why not to read that drivel.
This was the worst list I have ever seen.
Dockers thing is kind of irritating. As if there’s something un-manly about eating salads and drinking lattes?
I have to agree with the Dockers ad … . I’m pulling on my boots and off to buy the entire male youth group population a pair of Dockers. :-).
Real men smoke Marlboros.Real men drink beer.Real men drive trucks.
The Dockers advert is just playing the macho card to sell something to someone that needs to feel manly.
Sorry, Macho Man does not equate to Biblical Man.
BTW, Dockers is owned by Levi’s which put out the O Pioneers advert of late. YouTube it and see what the manly men are doing at 0:28. So Dave, maybe you don’t want to buy Dockers for your youth group…
On the “faith in his job” article … I completely agree with his conclusion, that you are either given faith or you are not. But how can you say that and not believe that their is a Giver-of-faith? Seems contradictory. Also, while it surely is sad, I would say that it is not surprising. It’s exactly what Jesus said would happen when he recounted the parable of the sower. Lastly, the author said that his faith began to dwindle when he stopped going to church. I’d like to humbly submit that if he ever had saving faith, he began to lose it when he began to pursue a religion because of it’s “deepness” and “rich history” instead of because of it’s Jesus-ness!!! I’m not criticising catholicism, I’m simply saying that he “switched” for the wrong reasons, and that if he had had the correct criteria (Jesus), he might not have switched, and (maybe!) might not have lost his faith. That is all.
