This afternoon, and for quite a few Wednesday afternoons to follow, I’ve got something I think you’ll enjoy. It’s a series of short films created by David Murray that focus on Christ’s appearances in the Old Testament as the Angel of the Lord. This week’s episode is titled “Bonus Gospel.”

Hmmm … I’ve never quite understood how it is that we conclude that “the Angel of the LORD” in the OT is specifically Jesus (as opposed to the one, triune God, or an anonymous envoy speaking for Him, or both at once). I thoroughly agree that the Son of God is present in the OT - all through it, in fact - but from what I can see, the NT simply declares that Jesus is the LORD (Yahweh).
But I’m always happy to have my views shaken up a little and my blind spots revealed, so I’m eager to keep watching! Guess that was the point of the first teaser video anyway :)
