A La Carte (4/17)

A La Carte Collection cover image

Tuesday April 17, 2007

Books: Al Mohler recommends ten great biographies. I have read (or am reading) many of them and agree with his recommendations.

Conference: Reformed Virginian reflects on the recent Twin Lakes Fellowship.

Books: All of this year’s Pulitzer Prize winners have been announced. Looks like I’ve got some more reading to do!

Family: Joe Carter has a moving post on “the visiting father.”

Church: Thabiti Anyabwile has ten great tips for talking about race.

Church: Last week I was introduced to the Council of Reforming Churches, an organization that “exists to impact the black church and greater black community with biblical theology which has its fulfillment in the Person and work of Jesus Christ.” It looks to be a great organization and I enjoyed hearing from its leaders at the Twin Lakes Fellowship.

What Does It Mean to Be Discerning?

Though I have heard it said of others, I have never had anyone tell me that I am a man of discerning tastes. I do not have a discerning palate or a discerning sense of style. I can, however, contentedly live without these if only I can have a discerning mind and a discerning spirit.
