Live Q&A – Here is one to add to today’s calendar. Ligonier is hosting a live Q&A today with Sinclair Ferguson, R.C. Sproul Jr., Robert Godfrey and Steve Lawson. Check in at 2 PM EST to ask your question.

Can Romance Novels Hurt Your Heart? – This is a really good article from Russell Moore. Looking at some new research, he draws parallels between pornography and romance novels.

9 Marks of a Healthy Parachurch – 9 Marks has a lengthy look at the marks of a healthy parachurch ministry.

Visit to Togo – It’s always interesting to read about what Conrad Mbewe is up to. He typically has to end his stories by exclaiming, “Only in Africa!”

Off With His Head – This article at the Chronicle takes a look at the situation involving the head of the IMF. This stood out to me: “On a deep level, we experience the humiliation of the man as a satisfying comeuppance for a super-alpha male who gets to stay regularly in $3,000-a-night hotels, fly first class wherever he goes, and live in a multi-million dollar mansion in Washington, D.C.”

Gentleness – Is gentleness a forgotten virtue? This article reminds us of some of what the Bible says about the virtue of gentleness.

Teaching Children to Pray – Burk Parsons has a two-part article on teaching your children to pray. “God created us as dependent creatures. We were made to fall on our knees and pray. Men either worship self through the world, the flesh, and the Devil, or by God’s grace, they worship him. God fashioned our hearts with an overwhelming sense and insatiable desire to commune with him.”

It is far less important to die the martyr’s death than to live the martyr’s life.

The Great Man and the Local Church

There is a way of telling history that focuses on the impact of the few great figures that rise up in any generation. A Book Unlike Any Other

The Bible may be a book, but it is a book unlike any other. The Bible is inspired—breathed out by God and in that way perfectly reflects the mind and will of God. The Bible is also complete, sufficient, inerrant, and infallible. Because the Bible is all these things and so many more, it is…

  • Free Stuff Fridays (21Five)

This week the blog is sponsored by 21Five, a new Canadian Christian bookstore. In recent years, many Christian bookstores across Canada have closed their physical and online doors. This is disappointing for believers, as many of the best products come from abroad and can be costly or complicated for Canadians to bring home. There are…

  • New and Notable Books

New and Notable Christian Books for April 2024

It is surprisingly difficult to find a list of Christian books that have been released in any given month—especially if you want that list to be filtered by books released through particular publishers. That’s one of the reasons why I close each month by coming up with my list of New and Notable books. I…
