(Yesterday on the blog: 30 Christian Substacks I Read and Recommend in 2026)

How to Think About “Death With Dignity”

Core Christianity covers an increasingly urgent matter. “Public conversations about medical aid in dying rarely begin with Scripture. Instead, they are usually grounded in cultural values that feel self-evident—autonomy, efficiency, and freedom from suffering. The argument is often framed this way: if someone is facing terminal illness, increasing dependence or the loss of independence, shouldn’t they have the right to choose the timing and manner of their death?”

On “Balance” and Young Men

I appreciate what Matthew Hall has to say here about young men and balance. “What most young men in their 20s actually desperately need is for older men to call on them to raise the bar. It’s time to get up earlier, work harder, stay physically active, pursue marriage and childbearing with purpose, to unapologetically pursue holiness, and to go to bed tired.”

A Treasure Chest for Thoughts

Seth celebrates both the wonder and the benefit of reading. “A book is a treasure chest for thoughts. Crack open the covers, and you’ll find a wealth of ideas in its words. They can take you out of yourself and show you new places and new perspectives.”

No Need to Fear, Ever

This is often hard to accept, but it’s true. “You are not alone, Christian believer! God’s people have always wrestled with fear, with questions, with sickening doubts when it comes to the many challenges of living in a sinful world. Yet the answer continually returns: there is no need to fear!”

A Gospel Reset for the Weary Christian

Tiya Thomas-Alexander: “The days are hard when we’re feeling weary.  It’s especially hard when we’re feeling weary of doing things we genuinely want to do and know God has called us to. It’s not straightforward to figure out if  it is a tiredness we need to push through; or one that is alerting  us to make changes and slow down.”

A Shy Guy’s Guide to Big Groups

Shy guys (and ladies) will probably benefit from reading “A Shy Guy’s Guide to Big Groups.” “Dear brother or sister, I feel your plight. But instead of taking personality tests and being trapped in the results, making peace with the discomfort and awkwardness, what if we focused outside of ourselves on others? What if we took the counsel of a voice instructor and aimed at being generous with our energy?”

Flashback: The Quest for More

God may be holding back what you long for to save you from the catastrophe of being unfaithful in much. He may be saving you from yourself.

A sense of our own folly is a great step towards being wise when it leads us to rely on the wisdom of the Lord.

—C.H. Spurgeon

  • Authority

How Men Can Use Their Authority Well

There are few topics that have proven trickier to navigate than the topic of authority. We know we need authority to function as families, churches, and nations, yet there is something deep within our sinful humanity that causes us to rebel against it wherever it exists. We both want it and despise it.

The Most Neglected Element of Worship

There are some elements of public worship that receive a great deal of attention. These elements are taught, practiced, rehearsed, and perfected until they are as good as they can be. In most churches, this includes the music, of course, and often the preaching. Why do these receive so much attention?
