A week has passed since Charlie Kirk was murdered and many people have now written mature, thoughtful articles on its significance. I have created a new roundup of those and you can find them here: One Week Later: Thoughtful Responses to Charlie Kirk’s Death.

The Comfort I Did Not Understand

Kristen writes something I believe a lot of people have come to understand: That their response to another person’s grief is very different after they have experienced a great grief of their own. “My hope and encouragement in these times of sadness for others is recognizing that while I did not understand how long and difficult the road of grief is for those walking through loss, I also did not understand the unique comfort of God in the midst of suffering. I used to believe and hope that the comfort of God meant the pain would go away or at the very least, the pain would lessen. I have learned, however, that the comfort of God is quite different than I hoped.”

Walking With a Friend Through Chronic Illness

Here are some very useful helps for walking with a friend through their chronic illness. “I have cared for the chronically ill for my entire career, and that has been my focus for the last few years. I have listened to their frustrations and goals. I have watched as they celebrated the victories and chronicled the setbacks. I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t always know the right thing to say. But I have learned many of things not to say, which is just as important when you’re supporting friends with chronic illness.”

Effectively Share the Gospel with Others

Paul Washer says this book “… encompasses all that the Christian and the church need to know to go forth and preach the gospel.” It makes complex concepts simple, addresses the fundamental questions of evangelism, and equips Christians to effectively share the gospel with others. (Sponsored)

“Though it’s unscripted, a Bible study can be directed. Though open-ended, it can have goals. Though interrogative, it can still be powerfully declarative.” Ryan provides guidance on preparing excellent questions for Bible study leaders.

You Can Conform to Christ Even if You Don’t Conform to Me

One of the aspects of the Christian faith that I find particularly perplexing is the freedom God gives his people to obey him in different or even opposite ways, so that one person’s obedience is another person’s disobedience. Even as two people take the same action, one might be obeying him and the other disobeying…
