Today’s Kindle deals include some books I mentioned Monday, but whose price only fell today. There are several excellent books on the Trinity (e.g., Fred Sanders’ The Deep Things of God; Costi Hinn’s Knowing the Spirit); a helpful book on secularism, the culture, and the church; and a book about my new favorite thing—grandparenting.

Bible Reading as a Blessing, Not a Burden

J. A. Medders: “I loathe the times I’m distracted by a screen, or a crick in the neck, or an overly groggy eye. Or even worse, when the pillow seems more pleasing. I suspect I’m not alone in my laments and loathes. And I bet you want to hang on the word of God, too.”

That I Might Not Sin

“What is your best practice to avoid sin? If someone asked you for three specific ways to guard against sin, what would you tell them?” Vanessa Le offers one you might not have thought of.

How Do I Help Someone See Their Anger When They Can’t See It Themselves? (Video)

Ed Welch provides some thoughts on how to help angry people who can’t (or won’t) see that they have an anger problem.

The New Birth and Conversion—What Comes First?

Conrad Mbewe explains a key piece of the order of salvation and tells why it matters that we get this right.

Biographies

Missionary.com has created a great resource—a directory of biographies of important missionaries.

Affections are manifested positively in love, desire, hope, joy, and gratitude toward certain objects, and negatively in hatred, fear, anger, and grief away from other objects.” Affections are powerful, and it is important that we train them well!

Flashback: Six Reasons Why Adultery Is Very Serious

Adultery is a forsaking of promises made in the presence of God and, in that way, a turning away from God himself.

Though I am always in a haste, I am never in a hurry, because I never undertake more work than I can go through with perfect calmness of spirit.

—John Wesley
