My gratitude goes to Lifeway for sponsoring the blog this week. They wanted to be sure you know about their excellent Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series which is meant to help you see Christ in all of Scripture.
There may be a few new Kindle deals to browse through today. If you didn’t check in yesterday, there were some deals then too.
(Yesterday on the blog: How To Lead Your Family)
Let’s Not Rush to Roles
“We devote much time and attention to questions like these: How (if at all) do males and females function differently in the home, in the church, and in the world? Did God appoint males to lead and females to submit? Are women to nurture while men provide and protect? What does “equal but different” look like when it comes to the responsibilities and roles inside and outside the home?” As important as such questions are, there may be better ones to begin with.
Before You Go to the Nations
David Livingston offers just three of the important lessons he has learned from the mission field.
Five Years
J.V. Fesko offers some seasoned wisdom to younger pastors about making changes to their churches. “Study, ask questions, observe, and determine why and how things exist in your church. Don’t automatically assume that your way of doing things is inherently superior. Once you’ve studied the situation, consult with your elders, and slowly begin to introduce changes.”
Children Are Not Adults
We all know that children are not adults, yet some of the laws of our lands don’t properly acknowledge this fact.
A Dark Chapter for Women’s Athletics Ends: Lia Thomas and the Hubris of the Transgender Movement
CBMW writes about Lia Thomas and the return of some level of sanity when it comes to the transgender movement and sports. “Although overreach by transgender activists may have temporarily set the movement back, there are indications that its supporters remain committed to advancing their agenda. It is inevitable that politicians, in some—if not many—jurisdictions, will attempt to mandate affirmation of transgender ideology.”
There Is No Pit So Deep That He Is Not Deeper Still
Sarah reminds us that there is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still. This is a huge comfort in times of sorrow.
Flashback: Controversy or Complacency
Controversy and complacency—both are alive in the church today. Sadly, both are alive in me as well.
