Free Stuff Fridays

Giveaways / Free Stuff Fridays Collection cover image

It’s time for yet another edition of Free Stuff Fridays. This week’s sponsor is the same as last week’s—Ligonier Ministries. This week they are offering five great prize packages, each of which consists of three books by Richard Phillips and a pass to a conference.

  • The Masculine Mandate
  • Jesus the Evangelist
  • What’s So Great About the Doctrines of Grace?
  • A pass to any 2010 Ligonier Conference

The Masculine MandateThe Masculine Mandate is a newly released title from Ligonier’s Reformation Trust Publishing division. I am reading it right now and will be reviewing it next week. To this point I am enjoying it a lot. Here is the publisher’s description: “There is a crying need in the church today for men to be men. But competing visions for what a man is to be —some growing out of popular culture and others arising from flawed teaching in the church—are exacerbating the problem. Rev. Richard D. Phillips believes the problem and the inadequate solutions being put forward demand sound exegesis of biblical passages relating to masculinity. The Bible alone has the answer to what men are to be in the eyes of their Creator. In this book, Rev. Phillips provides this essential exegesis and issues a call to reformation in the evangelical church’s attitude toward the role of men in the family, the church, and society.” Click here to read more about the book.

That conference pass can be used for next month’s West Coast Conference (Horton, Jones, MacArthur, Sproul), June’s National Conference (Sproul, Begg, Piper, Horton, Lawson, Mohler, Thomas, Parsons, Sproul Jr.). A date for the annual pastors’ conference will be announced soon.

Rules: You may only enter the draw once. Simply fill out your name and email address to enter the draw. As soon as the winners have been chosen, all names and addresses will be immediately and permanently erased. Winners will be notified by email. The giveaway closes Saturday at noon.

  • Pastoral Prayer

    A Pastoral Prayer

Every now and again I like to share an example of a pastoral prayer from Grace Fellowship Church. I do this because there are few examples of pastoral prayers online and I thought these may serve to inspire themes, passages, or ideas as other pastors and elders prepare to lead their churches in prayer. Please…

    The Future of New Calvinism

I was intrigued by Aaron Renn’s recent article The Maturation of New Calvinism. His thesis is that “New Calvinism has shifted from an ‘All-Star team’ model designed to exert influence over the broader evangelical world to a post-superstar model that primarily serves its own community. This represents the maturity of the movement, perhaps putting it…
