Stop Losing Your Sermon Notes in Old Notebooks

This week the blog is sponsored by InBible, a new Bible and note-taking app. Try it for 3 months for free with promo code “Challies”.

What if you could see every note you’ve written on the Sermon on the Mount when you read Matthew 5?

I’m Richard, the maker of InBible, a Bible app built for note-taking. I write notes during sermons, Bible studies, and quiet times. But all my past reflections were inaccessible, left in a stack of old notebooks. I wanted notes as accessible as writing in the margin, with the depth of a whole stack of notebooks. So I built InBible.

InBible is a notes app: when you write, tap any Bible reference you mention to see the passage in context. And it is a Bible app: when you read Scripture, select a verse to see every note that cites that passage.

Every reference, in context. In the notes tab, Bible references automatically become links. Tap to see all the passages you cite presented in context as a scrollable Bible view. Swipe to fluidly move back and forth between passages.

Your notes, where you’re reading. Select any passage and browse every note that references it: last month’s sermon notes and last year’s Bible study notes, side by side. Insights you recorded years ago resurface at exactly the right moment, no digging through old notebooks.

Markup made for study. Highlight an individual word, not just a whole verse. Do you annotate Scripture during an inductive study? Build a color code and mark up the text as you focus on every word in a passage. Do you mark themes? Draw margin lines. Then search for that marking and see every instance of that theme.

Search in plain English. Search for a word or a theme without needing to use the exact words of the verse. Read the matching verses in their surrounding context and swipe between them to find what you are looking for.

Made for reading. The text is laid out like a real Bible. Scroll between chapters without artificial page breaks. The app also goes beyond what is possible with a paper Bible. Want to check cross-references? Open the connected passage without losing your spot. Want to read the whole Bible this year? The app remembers your progress and shows what chapters you haven’t read yet.

InBible is free to download for iPhone and iPad on the App Store. Subscribe to get unlimited notes and annotations. Use promo code “Challies” for 3 months free. Give InBible a try and let me know what you think at [email protected].

To the Parents Driving Home with an Empty Seat

It’s the season when many parents are making the long journey home, and doing so alone. On the journey there, they had a child in the seat behind them, a child who was making his or her way to college for the first time. But now, as they make the journey back, the seat behind…

How To Show Hospitality When You Live in a Small Home

For obvious reasons, hospitality can be more challenging for those in a small home than for those in a much larger one. It can be a bit more awkward, too. Yet I’d like to think we have generally been faithful in that regard.
