Big Changes Part 2

So far so good in regards to the move to the new commenting system. I had a bit of a problem with my archives but managed to fix it. The only real annoyances now are:

  • Old comments will not appear in the new commenting system. So although you’ll be able to see older comments on the actual blog pages, they won’t show up in the forums. Any new topics will be fine, of course, but it would have been neat to see the entire Purpose Driven Life discussion moved to the forum, for example.
  • Archives topics will only have an entry created in the forum the first time someone clicks on them. That means there will be strange topics popping up from time-to-time on the forums…unless I take the time to go through day-by-day and click on each one. Maybe that’s a project for tomorrow!

Other than those small annoyances I’m quite happy with the forums. I am hoping a bunch of people sign up and begin to use them so we can get some good discussions happening. I am excited at the prospect of having people be able to begin their own topics in the forum so those readers who do not have their own blogs have an opportunity to speak out!

  • Why Christians Should Care About Good Writing

This week the blog is sponsored by Zondervan Reflective, and the post is written by Jared C. Wilson. “It doesn’t really matter if I can ‘dress it up;’ I just have to have the facts right.” I’ve heard some variation of that sentiment a number of times over the years, more lately while teaching my…

There is a way of telling history that focuses on the impact of the few great figures that rise up in any generation. This “great man theory” says that history can best be understood when we focus on the dominant figures of the time. History, it says, turns on the actions, decisions, obsessions, and natural…

  • A Book Unlike Any Other

    A Book Unlike Any Other

The Bible may be a book, but it is a book unlike any other. The Bible is inspired—breathed out by God and in that way perfectly reflects the mind and will of God. The Bible is also complete, sufficient, inerrant, and infallible. Because the Bible is all these things and so many more, it is…

  • Free Stuff Fridays (21Five)

This week the blog is sponsored by 21Five, a new Canadian Christian bookstore. In recent years, many Christian bookstores across Canada have closed their physical and online doors. This is disappointing for believers, as many of the best products come from abroad and can be costly or complicated for Canadians to bring home. There are…
