Free Stuff Fridays (Westminster Conference on Preaching and Preachers)

Free Stuff Fridays

This week the blog was sponsored by Westminster Conference on Preaching and Preachers.

Westminster Theological Seminary and the Westminster Bookstore are giving away a ten-book bundle of some of our favorite preaching resources in honor of this year’s Westminster Conference on Preaching and Preachers, happening October 22nd and 23rd. This year, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones’ lectures on preaching and preachers given at Westminster Theological Seminary, the conference will focus on celebrating the legacy of Martyn Lloyd-Jones and the need to recommit to the lessons he taught.

Just as it did 50 years ago when Martyn Lloyd-Jones delivered his lectures, Westminster Theological Seminary remains committed to equipping students and pastors in the priority, practice, and power of preaching in order to serve the global church in today’s conflicted culture.

Books included in the bundle:

  • Preaching and Preachers by Martyn Lloyd Jones
  • Christianity & Liberalism: Legacy Edition by J. Gresham Machen
  • Lloyd-Jones on the Christian Life by Jason Meyer
  • O Death, Where is Thy Sting by John Murray
  • The Preacher’s Catechism by Lewis Allen
  • Preaching Christ in All of Scripture by Edmund Clowney
  • Grace and Glory by Geerhardus Vos

Truths That Take on the World

Christianity has a long history with catechisms—summaries of key doctrines that are arranged in a question-and-answer format. Traditionally, Presbyterians would be taught The Shorter Catechism, Dutch Reformed believers The Heidelberg Catechism, and Baptists one of the Baptist equivalents. Sadly, the use of catechisms began to decline as the years went by, so that it became…
