Call to Worship
“Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” (Psalm 32:11)
This call to delight in God comes from Psalm 32. In that Psalm, David is rejoicing in having had his sins forgiven by God. His sins were many. He needed forgiveness. And God, his Maker, gave it! If you have had your sins forgiven, then join with me in singing of your great thanks to God for that… and all the good gifts He has given.

Confession of Sin
There are many Psalms in the bible that teach us how to confess our sins and ask God for His forgiveness. One of those is Psalm 130. There the poet writes…
“Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.” (Psalm 130:1–4)
Can you imagine if we had to defend ourselves before God for all of our sins? From the greatest of them down to the least? If that were the case, none of us would stand. But God does not demand a defence from us. He grants us forgiveness in Jesus Christ. So, we will heed the advice of the poet and cry out to the Lord from the depths of our guilt.

Assurance of Pardon
The same Psalmist concluded:
“O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”
Indeed, God forgives all those who have repented from their sins and put their trust in Jesus Christ. If that is you, friend, then rejoice in the clean slate and restored fellowship!

Listen to the Word of God
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” (Romans 5:6–9)

Benediction
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:5–6)
