Call to Worship
“Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.”
“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.”
“Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.”
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!” (Psalm 33:1–12)
This call to Worship God comes from Psalm 133.
This Psalm tells us some vital things about the Lord.
– He made all that is.
– He created it all by the power of His own voice. And because of this, we should all
– Praise, thank and sing to Him.
– And stand in awe of Him.Let’s sing His praise, and in the process, remind ourselves of His total sovereignty over all He has made.

Listen to this question from God, from the Word of God
“To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.”
“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, ‘My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God’? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” (Isaiah 40:25–28)
This reading was from Isaiah 40.

Confession of Sin
Part of what we do as we gather together week by week, is remind each other who God is, and who we are.
“Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” (Psalm 115:1)
We are prone to seek our own glory. Every time we sin that is precisely what we are doing.
– We lie to protect our glory.
– We boast to boost our glory.
– We cheat to buy our glory.Have you lied this last week? Boasted about your work or parenting or life?
“How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?” (John 5:44)
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, please join me as I pray on our behalf, asking God to forgive us for exalting ourselves and seeking our own fame, popularity or glory.

Confession of Sin
Lord,
You are God and we are not.
Yet far too often, even in the last few days, we have sought the fame and recognition that belongs to you alone.
Jesus, you told us that we could absolutely nothing of eternal good and value apart from you. So, please forgive us for seeking a glory that did not belong to us. And also forgive us for spending too much of this past week living for ourselves, rather than living for you.
Do all of this, not because we deserve it, but because you are so good, gracious and merciful.
We ask in Your Name, Christ.
Amen.Service Leader
Assurance of Pardon
Christian, you can be sure of this promise…
“He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:10, 13–14)
Praise God for His abounding mercy, patience and love for His people.
