Do you feel anxious and overwhelmed—and want peace and help from God?

This week the blog is sponsored by the PrayMore app. Experience peace and encouragement when you pray more with your small group or Bible study.

As you read this question, you probably feel a sense of relief as you answer, “Yes.” I’m so thankful for God’s Word. You can read 1 Peter 5:7, take a deep breath, and remember that God is always listening, and you have an open invitation to “cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” You don’t have to carry any burden alone.

At PrayMore, we exist to help you and your Bible study or small group pray more, so that you can spend more of your life experiencing “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4:7).

  • Prayer Journal: The PrayMore app lets you group your personal prayers in sections, update entries easily, and use the Immersive mode to see one request at a time with a peaceful background you choose.
  • Interrupt Your Day to Pray: No matter how stressed we get as demands flood into our lives, we simply forget to pray. One busy day, over nine years ago, I thought about how powerful a prayer app with customizable reminders would be. I wrote, “Interrupt your day to pray,” on my whiteboard, and we made it a core feature in the PrayMore app.

Sometimes it feels too hard to pray for yourself. Not so for the believers in your life who love you!

These two app features for private prayer are free forever, just install the app from the app store here! But there is so much more blessing when we share our needs, our thankfulness, and we pray for each other.

  • Pray With Your Small Group: As the classic hymn says, “Oh, what peace we often forfeit, and oh, what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.” Sometimes it feels too hard to pray for yourself. Not so for the believers in your life who love you! Ask them to take your unsolved needs to God in prayer! Our team is so convinced of this that we put the sharing of prayer requests at the very heart of PrayMore. It’s easy to pick a small group you belong to and share your burdens with those you trust, knowing they’ll be reminded to pray for you.
  • Personal Connections: When you share a prayer, choose to let people text, call, or email you to let you know they are praying and to encourage you. Unlike social media, you won’t be tempted to focus on how many likes or comments you get compared to someone else. Instead, you’ll get personal encouragement and connection from the people who really care and are praying for you. People tell us constantly about the impact this has on their lives!
  • Pray More Biblically: Even Christians who love the Bible often fall into prayer ruts. So, we provide free Learning to Pray plans in PrayMore that teach us how to pray using scriptures. These vary from 15-day gospel-focused lists for those new to prayer and faith, to biblical prayers by topic, and how to pray using the ACTS acrostic (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication). PrayMore also gives people the opportunity to include a verse with every request or praise they share.

As a volunteer pastor-elder and software business owner, I have transitioned my full-time work, and six people on my team, to building and promoting the PrayMore app, to help people live in the peace and help that is always available to them from our heavenly Father.

    The Man Who Plays Pastor

Christians have long compared prayer to a thermometer that measures spiritual heat. When we grow complacent in our relationship with the Lord, that thermometer almost invariably registers cool, for in such times we pray seldom and we pray without fervor.
