A La Carte (11/5)

Preaching Matters – Here’s a link for the preachers. “Preaching Matters is a monthly video series designed to equip, encourage and inspire those who teach God’s word. Each month we sit down with preachers and ask what they have recently been thinking about and preaching on.” There’s a new episode available today.

100 Abandoned Houses – This is a fascinating photo gallery of Detroit’s abandoned houses. The population of Detroit has declined from over 2 million to 700,000, leaving large parts of the city almost completely abandoned.

A Prayer – Al Mohler writes about how to pray on an election day. “Christians face the responsibility to vote, not only as citizens, but as Christians who seek to honor and follow Christ in all things. But, beyond the vote, we also bear responsibility to pray for our nation.”

Incredible Credibility – I really appreciate what Barnabas Piper says in this article. “We live in a society in which credibility in one area is granted based on success in another. Actors endorse presidential candidates, and people listen. Musicians write books, and people read them. Athletes pontificate on same-sex marriage, and are given a platform.”

God’s Attributes – Monergism continues to index the web for Christians. They’ve just done an overhaul of their page that looks at God’s attributes.

The devil is a better theologian than any of us and is a devil still.

Maybe We Make Meditation Too Difficult

Of all the Christian disciplines, it is my guess that meditation may be the least practiced—though I suppose fasting might have something to say about that. Most people diligently make time to read the Bible and pray. And yet, while most people have good intentions when it comes to meditation, it so often seems to…
