A Whole New Look

EarthIt has been quite a while since I changed the look of this site. In the first few months of the site’s life the look was changing constantly, but after a while I decided I would have to create a design I liked and just stick with it. And I did just that for quite a while. Recently, though, some of the previous site’s shortcomings began to bother me, so I decided it was time for a change. And so I present to you this whole new look.

There are many advantages to this new setup, and a few disadvantages. The greatest disadvantage is that I am no longer planning on posting the full text of my latest post on the main page. Instead, you’ll have to click on Read More to get the rest of it. Not a big deal, I know, but some people will find it annoying. I believe that is the primary disadvantage. In my mind, the advantages are much greater:

  • Full XHTML compliance.
  • Full CSS compliance.
  • The structure of the site is built entirely with stylesheets rather than tables.
  • A new look for the forum
  • A new look for the commenting area
  • RSS, RSS2 and Atom feeds

The site has been built with accessibility and cross-browser support in mind. I am eager to get some feedback, so feel free to let me know your thoughts on it.

Finally, if you are a photographer and would like to have one of your photos featured on this site, I am intending to change the photo banner once per week. Dimensions need to be 750 x 200 pixels. If you are interested, contact me.

Traditionally, Presbyterians would be taught The Shorter Catechism, Dutch Reformed believers The Heidelberg Catechism, and Baptists one of the Baptist equivalents. Sadly, the use of catechisms began to decline as the years went by, so that it became…

It Doesn’t Matter What You Remember

    Are We Post Woke?

It is too early to tell, I think, whether the “wokeness” craze has already peaked and even begun to slip into decline, or whether it’s just pausing to gather energy for another surge. What seems clear for the moment, though, is that it has lost at least some of its initial momentum, probably because it…
