Call to Worship
“Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm!” (Psalm 47:6–7)
This call to worship God by singing praise to him comes from Psalm 47. Here is a call to every human being to open their mouth and sing. To sing, not just any song, but songs of praises to God, the King of all the earth. Let's obey this call and begin our worship of God this morning by singing His praises.

Corporate Reading
Let's read out loud together what our Bible says about Jesus Christ. Please read out loud with me.
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:15–20)

Assurance of Pardon
Immediately after writing these words about Jesus, Paul reflects on what Jesus has done for sinners like us.
“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.” (Colossians 1:21–23)
Christian, are you continuing on in the faith? If you belong to Jesus, you most certainly are! But as we have been learning, our path to glory is filled with temptations and trials along the way. Let's use this next song to ponder Christ's faithfulness to us. It is hymn that asks us all a question. And provides a perfect answer in the last verse.

Listen carefully to this warning from the lips of Jesus as found in the Word of God
“Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all—so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.” (Luke 17:28–33)
This reading was from Luke 17.
