Psalm 129:1–8

“Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up, with which the reaper does not fill his hand nor the binder of sheaves his arms, nor do those who pass by say, ‘The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!’” (Psalm 129:1–8)

Titus 3:3–7
Once God rescues us from our wandering, He calls on us to work for Him. And this is our great joy! Let's read out loud of this massive spiritual transformation that took place in all of us who have been saved by His grace.
Congregation
“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3–7)
Leader
And now that we belong to Him, we are called to work for Him. Not to earn what He has already given, but to use our lives for His glory in this world.
Titus 3:8a (adapted) The saying is trustworthy, and I insist on these things, so that you who have believed in God may be careful to devote yourselves to good works.

Psalm 124:1–8
The Lord has done great things for us in sending Christ to save us from our sins and solve our biggest problem. The Lord has done great things for us in sending Christ to save us from our sins and solve our biggest problem. What Jesus would do eternally, God has done many times temporally. Let's use the words of celebration in Psalm 124 to reflect on God's gracious deliverance of us, His people!I will read the parts marked, Leader. You read out loud the parts marked, Congregation.
“Leader: If it had not been the LORD who was on our side— let Israel now say— Congregation: if it had not been the LORD who was on our side when people rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us; then over us would have gone the raging waters. Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth! We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped! Leader: Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 124:1–8)

Please read out loud with me these words first spoken by King David when he considered all the ways the Lord had blessed him and shown him grace. Let's read out loud together.
“‘Blessed are you, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. Amen.” (1 Chronicles 29:10–13)

Psalm 147:1–11
Please read out loud with me all the words of Psalm 147:1–11. Let's read out loud together.
“Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground.”
“Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.” (Psalm 147:1–11)

LBC 1689 8.1
God was pleased, in His eternal purpose,
to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus,
His only begotten Son,
according to the covenant made between them,
to be the mediator between God and man.
God chose Him to be prophet, priest, and king,
and to be head and saviour of the church,
the heir of all things, and judge of the world.
From all eternity, God gave to the Son a people to be His offspring.
In time this people would be redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified by Him.

Statement of Faith #5
For no reason, other than to glorify His own Self,
God in His eternal purpose chose to reconcile
a multitude of people to Himself
through the Person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
For this multitude Jesus Christ took on the form of a man
and became their perfect Substitute on the cross,
satisfying divine justice on their behalf.
His sacrifice purchased all things necessary to ensure their eternal salvation.

The reason we know we are praising the real God is that He has revealed Himself to us in His Word. The Bible. It is no mistake that even before describing who God is, our Confession of Faith starts by identifying what the Bible is. All we know of God comes from this Book. Let's read out loud together from chapter one of our Confession.
The Holy Scriptures are the only sufficient, certain, and infallible standard of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience.
The light of nature
and the works of creation and providence
so clearly demonstrate the goodness, wisdom, and power of God
that men are left without excuse;
however, these demonstrations are not sufficient to give the knowledge of God and His will that is necessary for salvation.
Therefore, the Lord was pleased at different times and in various ways
to reveal Himself
and to declare His will to His church.
To preserve and propagate the truth better
and to establish and comfort the church with greater certainty against the corruption of the flesh and the malice of Satan and the world,
the Lord put this revelation completely in writing.
Therefore, the Holy Scriptures are absolutely necessary,
because God’s former ways of revealing His will to His people have now ceased.

"He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
For by him all things were created,
in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—
all things were created through him and for him.
And he is before all things,
and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in everything he might be preeminent.
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,
and through him to reconcile to himself all things,
whether on earth or in heaven,
making peace by the blood of his cross.

The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, Chapter 30 Paragraph 2:
"In this ordinance Christ is not offered up to His Father, nor is any real sacrifice made at all for remission of sin of the living or the dead. It is only a memorial of the one offering Christ made of Himself on the cross once for all. It is also a spiritual offering of the highest possible praise to God for that sacrifice. Thus, the Roman Catholic sacrifice of the mass (as they call it) is utterly abominable and detracts from Christ’s own sacrifice, which is the only propitiation for all the sins of the elect."
